I'm sure the intercooler in the S55 is as good as the S63 TU . So on the street high IAT's is not a real problem . On the track that may be a real issue .
You haven't seen IATs above 120 F in the M6?

That's pretty surprising. Not because of anything related to the M6, just because it's fairly easy to generate an IAT above 120F.

I did not see IAT's over 120's in 4 consecutive quarter mile runs with near 90 degree ambient temps . I'm sure if I kept going it would have gone up eventually but it was essentially holding a delta of 30 degrees between ambient which is very impressive . It's also one of the reasons why my GPS trap speed only dropped 1mph between a 40 degree day and a 90 degree day . The intercooler set up on these cars is great for the street .

It's supposed to be the opposite.
I never said I thought it would be great for the track . It is at least on the S63tu anyway , up to what a user will put it through on the street due to its large capacity and multiple radiators . I can only tell you what I data logged in hot and humid SC , that's as objective as gets . Still can't wait to see the OP's actual Vbox data . Bottom line is the conditions likely did not have a huge effect on his cars performance and his launch seemed to be ideal .

This m3 can make much better run
But we are talking sealevel. many of us will use the car between 200 and maybe 1000m altitude instead.
Some of us are near 2,000m above sea level. This car is going to be so much faster here that an E9x. Mind ready to be blown!

Oh I believe you! It's that last sentence that really has me worried. Someone just needs to grab this car and dyno it or take it to the strip asap.

i currently have an E60 M5 and i am debating between the M3 and M5. i just love the top end of my E60 and after viewing the video of the M3's acceleration; i feel i will miss the top end power i am use to. Granted i will very rarely use it.....but the ability of doing 70-80mph and mashing the throttle and effortlessly getting to triple digits speeds is so addictive.

I test drove a 14' M5 this weekend and the power was just amazing.

HMMM........decisions , decisions

Just a thought but I think you'd have a similar top-end in this car(the f80).

Now you might not get 125-170mph acceleration, but in terms of ripping forth at the top of the tach...

Also I believe the f80 m3 is going to offer you more power when you stomp on it as a reflection of the shape of it's powerband/torque curve. I could be wrong.

How? The M6 will trap at least 3-4 MPH higher in the 1/4.

Your mind is a little too focused on the M6 my friend

He was writing about comparisons to his e60 m5. I said he should probably expect a very similar top-end and ~75mph pedal response in the f80.

It's just around 6s faster from 0-240km/h than the E92 M3 in this video, not sure that is slow...

20,8s vs 26,8s as timed by stopwatch on both videos

That E92 was not aggresively launched in that video, so it is not a fair comparison.

The F8X seems to be about 3 seconds quicker from 100-240km/h though.

My point being that it doesn't "die off up top" or anything else. Looks like it was geared a bit less aggressively above ~130mph/5th gear, probably for fuel economy purposes and because it's going to cross the quarter mile right around that mark. And while it's great to hit 150mph on a back stretch of some track, realistically the speed that matters is up to about....125mph

Anyway, not sure why some folks are surprised that a 3.0 liter twin turbo doesn't pull like a 4.4 liter turbo at speeds above 125mph. The m6 is a boat with a sledgehammer engine. Awesome. Jay Leno's Tank Engine Car has over 1600hp now - doesn't make it "better" than the M3 (though it'll still be cooler)
Not to me........if I get passed on the autobahn by an E9x m3 (like the one I've just sold to buy the F80 ) I will cry like a baby I swear!!

Lol, my statement was in comparison to the m5/m6 as some others were comparing it to. Don't worry, you'll be safely beating e90's.
