Yes same parent owning company , but there's a guy there that Benzima knows well and wants to really help the community. Actually two of them come frequently to our meets. But in your case, I doubt they would offer you something for free when it was another dealer mistake. If missing that feature is that important to you, no harm in trying?
I can vouch for the guy in question here at BMW Laval... none of the dealers wanted to help me with this shifter paddle issue I had (which was very minor but made my OCD explode!)

Brought it to "the guy" at BMW Laval and he got it fixed on the spot.

Worth a look if you ask me...

What was your issue?

Happy it got fixed.

Yeah I've kinda had it with Canbec. I certainly trust you guys on the forum at this point and appreciate your input.

OT, but his real issue is he’s a class 1 OCD, Mr Pilot I introduced him in one of our meets to Gycelain and basically told Mr Laval to prove their service is the best

Just got back after a few weeks away and missed driving my M3. How do you guys who store your cars for winter handle it? It's so much fun in the winter!

To be able to run Connected Drive, the car needs to be fitted with a Cell phone SIM card from the factory. If you do not have this SIM card installed, it is not possible to activate Connected Drive.

Canbec are usually quite helpful. They made me a lot of favors.

Maybe in avantix 's case, he already had the SIM card in the car and it was just a question of activation. Maybe he can confirm?

At this stage, after having Canbec scratch my bumper and roof the last time i brought my car in, I'm going to take everyone up on their suggestions and bring my car to Laval for service.

Shows how experiences can vary. I've had a rather bad experience the only time I went to Laval. The worst of the worst is Park Avenue on the South Shore. I've stopped going there even if it only a few minute from my house.

Mishaps can happen in a shop. I know, I work in one. For me, service is all about how these mishaps are dealt with.

Do you have the SIM card in your car?

I'll check but not sure. Either way I've
Moved on and accepted that dealership kinda didn't want to honor their promise. My bad for not getting it in writing.

Told my rep I want exact same features on my 2018 but add CP and MPE.

2018 doesn't have it and rep told me they made a mistake and went to BMW Canada and they told them it's between dealer and client. Dealer came back to me and said BMW Canada doesn't want to cover it and they won't cover it either, even though they covered it on my 17'.

Clear enough for you?
I guess your rep was not well informed. Connected Drive was a stand alone $500 option up to MY2017. In 2018, it was merged into the Premium Package and could no longer be ordered as a stand alone option.

If the SIM card is not in your car and cannot be retrofitted, then there is not much the dealer nor BMW Canada can do.

I think you know way more than my dealer does at this point.

So can it be retrofitted by BMW?

I'd like to hear from avantix. Because, as far as I know from what I was told, if the car does not have the SIM card, it is not possible to retrofit (at a reasonable price).

However, BMW Assist Emergncy Call (6AC) and BMW TeleServices (6AE) are still listed as standard features in the BMW Canada 2018 pricing guide, and the car needs to have a SIM card for these features. So if it is the case, it should be possible to activate Connected Drive through software alone.

Sorry I'm late to the party it's been a hell of a couple of weeks. I can confirm my car did not have any option other than the garage door opener on the tech side and they were able to succesfully retrofit ConnectedDrive fully functional with BMW Assist and all.
