What's laughable? You seem to 100% agree with my point?
Which btw is NOT that it's better to mod your car fast than to buy a fast car.

It is simple that a rise with $80k in price you should have room as a manufacturer like BMW to build a very fast car.

What I dom't get is someone spending $60k trying to make a garage copy of a GTS. As you say, you just end up with a modded car. So I think you and I see things very different. That's cool with me.

My dealer just called and told me that BMW Canada has not determined if we are getting the GTS here.We have in past not been able to get cars like Laguna Seca Boss 302 due to the need to re crash test the cars due to the aero modifications like splitters which change the bumpers crash performance.

You still have time to relocate to the U.S.

Haha

But seriously. Why isn't there a single international standardized law for vehicles. Aren't we at an age where everything is available globally? All the individual rules and regulations only complicate manufacturing and drive prices higher.

I think we finally moved to common emission & bumper standards with the US but some things are still different. We pay a lot for cars in Canada compared to the US.

Not at current exchange rates. Was checking Audi SQ5, M3, Macan Turbo, are all cheaper in Canada than in the the U.S.

I agree in principle, and while you'd think the manufacturers would prefer a single standard, I suspect they like the current system just fine. Different standards make the cars non-fungible from one market to the next... which also makes it easier for manufacturers to maintain pricing discrepancies.

A few years ago I was working for a large integrated oil producer, and at an offsite meeting with people from various parts of the company I didn't usually interact with. At one point, the refining group was educating us about how 'gasoline' just isn't that simple. Every region in the country has their own set of rules and regulations resulting in boutique blends all over the place. I suggested their lives would probably be much easier if there was a common standard (even if it was the most stringent one). All the guys from the refining business jumped in and disagreed immediately. Well, 'easier' maybe, but they said we made a ton of money from our ability to take advantage of price discrepancies with different blends, etc...

If that is the case(which I am not so sure of) I am sure the pricing will be adjusted when the 16 models come out.

Take advantage while you can, current exchange 1 CDN = 0.80 USD. In most cases the difference covers the difference in state tax vs HST and then some. I remember when I was in Canada and going cross border shopping. My friend at the time bought an A3 from the U.S. for less in the US. Now the US should be cross border shopping now. This difference has been there since the end of last year. It is just larger now given the current FX rate. Options make the difference even bigger

M3 $74K CDN= $59.2K USD, US base price is $62K
M4 $75K CDN= $60K USD, US base price is $64.2K
M5 $101.5K CDN= $81.2K USD, US base price is $93.6K
M6 $124.9K CDN= $99.92K USD, US base price is $112.4K
X5M $105.9K CDN= $84.72K USD, US base price is $98.7K
X6M $108.2K CDN= $86.56K USD, US base price is $102.1K

Cayman GT4 $96.5K CDN= $77.2K USD, US base price is $84.6K
911S $112.8K CDN= $90.24K USD, US base price is $98.9K
Macan Turbo $83.4K CDN= $66.72K USD, US base price is $73.9K

SQ5 $58.5K CDN= $46.8K USD, US base price is 52.7K
RS5 $84K CDN= $67.2K USD, US base price is $70.9K
RS7 $116K CDN= $92.8K USD, US base price is $108.9K

Interesting for sure.I know Porsche has a difference of 13% when I ordered my GT4 a few months ago which is a good thing when we have a .79.82 USD this morning.

Given that the system updated with 2016 M car pricing today has anybody with access checked to see what is showing for the GTS?

Just a year ago, the Canadian dollar was at par with the USD. I was cursing how much more expensive my M4 was here in Canada . Timing is of ensence when discussing exchange rates .

Agree wish I could pick up my GT4 in Canada as it is cheaper now but then probably would not find an allocation there. Waiting patiently me for mine to come in. Would be interesting to see how it will compare to the BMW GTS
