What are you running for winters?

Just currious to see what everyone’s running this year for winter rubber.
I’m running Blizzaks LM32 carries over for the last couple years, they are ok but nothing ecstatic to right home about.

You’re in Edmonton right?

I’d run the PA4’s if I had real snow to deal with. Being on Vancouver Island, I have some sort of kumho winter ($700 less) that gets me thru the few snow falls we have here.

I had the Blizzaks and they were ok. Last year I put on the Nokian Hakka's and they stuck better to ice and snow so I'd definitely go with them.

Never skimp on tires.

Pirelli SottoZero. I used them last year on my E90 and they were good enough for Toronto winters. They're basically new so i will use them this winter on the F80.

It also depends on where the OP is running them. Toronto and Montreal city winters are much different than Edmonton or suburb driving.

Im out in Calgary...
more ice than snow here the last few seasons.

Was thinking of switching to studded tires, but we get a fair bit of chinooks so it may snow and extreme cold for 2 days and warm up for 3 or so then its all over again.

Would be a good idea to. The Nokians are a great snow tire, ideal for Calgary winters. The other tires mentioned in this thread are all 'winter' tires.

It's true. Most of us run performance winter tires. Especially folks here in the GTA. It's snows and the roads are clear in a few hours. It's more slush and rain here.

First year with this setup. Was originally going to park it for winter but decided to go with the Contis after reading some review...Should be fine for GTA.

Isn't that overkill? I would imagine Calgary streets are cleared of snow relatively quickly. At least in Toronto, there maybe a few days where snow accumulates before it's cleared, but I would say over 95% of winter driving is on dry pavement.

That's where a performance winter tire would have an advantage over Hakkas.

Hakkas are awesome in the snow, but like butter if it warms up at all. If I lived in an area hit hard regularly with snow id get Hakkas for sure. Performance winter tires are a much better option for snow/cold/clear streets option.

I had Hakkas on my beater last winter in Montreal and they were amazing.

I've had Blizzak LM-32, Michelin PA4 and this year I'm using the BMW Continentals in Montreal.

The PA4 were my favourite since most of my commute was on highways where the snow is cleared relatively quickly. If most of your commute is on clear roads then I'd go for a Performance winter tire.
