I have noticed that my M3 sometimes, and possibly only when it is still not at operating temperature, trembles or kind of rocks in the gear when going at walking pace (20 km/h or around 15mph) a bit like when you are driving with a manual car in 1 st or 2nd gear and slow down too much. The trembling that occurs just before you stall the engine. It goes away as soon as i step on the gas again but i think it should not really happen with an automatic gearbox (i have dct).

Anyone know what kind of trembling i am referring to and noticed the same?

Its a higher power telling you that you should have gotten a manual = )

A DCT is nothing like a normal automatic. Its more like a manual that the computer shifts. So it should have manual characteristics like that.

i kind of have that as well, what is your throttle response set to when you car is cold or at low speeds? i put the car in efficient and its not as bad and it only does it sometimes but I'm pretty sure its normal, wasn't as evident though in my E90 DCT. Probably just needs a software update, seems like an easy fix up

^^ this, except I would say it's a manual and the computer controls the clutch - everything else is manual (for me). It'll roll backwards at a stoplight or on a hill, it'll roll forward when you're in reverse, it'll take extra gusto in the morning ... all exactly like a manual.

when you press the gas pedal you're also releasing the clutch and vice-versa so I'd say the behavior is exactly right.

If one clutch is good, two is better. it's just science.

Typical dct stuff. Nothing to worry about.

Bumping this thread as this keeps happening in my 18 dct zcp. Car often in comfort mode wants to shudder and sometimes completely stall at low speeds in stop and go traffic and especially parking garages. It is also accompanied by a knocking noise as this happens. No codes and any help or ideas would be much appreciated car has 45k miles
