4-Door M cars have a precedence. Turbo M cars don't.

Let's just hope for two engine choices. Base engine is S65 and optional S55. Or put the 3.x liter in the M3 and 4 liter in the M4. Or something like that so each can get their own desire.

I would love to see a v10 or v12 M3, that would be a dream come true. Alas, only a dream.

I was a bmw diehard fan, driving 2 M3's in the past.
Now I have to say that I'm losing interest in BMW & shifting my interest to Porsche.

I highly doubt that my next car is gonna be a bimmer.

Really? 2002tii turbo, anyone? It even had stripes in three colors, which look suspiciously like those that M GmbH uses to this day.

BMW motorsports, especially their F1 efforts have tons of history with turbos. We still don't know the details of this engine, let's wait until we know more before making broad pronouncements.

I'm all about efficiency gains, but I hope the F8x M models get more than a 20% improvement. I only get 14-15mpg with mixed driving on my E92, so 20% would be 18mpg. I'd love to see 20mpg+.

I agree and like you fully expect more efficiency than that- especially with all the new tech. They can't do any worse, that is for sure! I would also imagine that they use taller gearing instead of 6 close in the manual which by itself will help a ton as will losing the always on rear diff. If I were a betting man I'd go mid 20s on the highway...

My E90M is a hog as well but occasionally with a tail wind I see 20 on long highway stints! Sometimes I think that if it didn't sound so damn good I wouldn't drive it so hard

Is the rear diff in the F10 M5 not always "on"? I know it has an electronic motor back there. I expect the F8x to get some version of the M5 diff.

Yeah, I got 21mpg on my drive back from PDC to Dallas, but I was really trying to go easy on the gas.

Around town, the car feels boring below 5000rpm, so I'm always looking for a reason to goose it higher. That's probably why I never get above 15mpg. With more torque in the F8x, revving up to 6K shouldn't be as necessary.

It's funny how people talk "heritage" but really have no clue.

I'm not trying to say the 4 door M has no place. I'm trying to gauge another person's perspective on his meaning of the word "heritage."
It seems this word has different meanings to different people
You believe turbo M cars don't have precedence but 4 doors does? Naturally you would think that since you own a 4 door M car but since M cars have been introduced, there have been numerous changes to them.
Who are you (or I) to say what has precedence or not? At the end of the day, it's just your opinion and it doesn't mean jack sh!t to the ///M board.
If you don't like the upcoming range or Turbo cars, don't buy it. Keep it simple

Why have we to look so far back ? BMW did the 2002 Turbo and it was not good, so they sticked to NA engines.

Or are you going to say BMW M did a mistake from M3 E30 to M3 E9X, they should hav been turobcharged ?

Levi, I would never say they made a mistake by going NA over turbo. I think that both NA and Turbo have their good qualities.
All I'm simply trying to say is that "change can be a good thing."
I plan on keeping my E92 forever and maybe add a turbo M4 in the future

Compare it to the AW F30 here with the updated halos and compare to the camo M3. Looks similar, and besides why would they give it halogen bulbs again when none of their newer cars have them.

I've always liked coupes (had E90 335i before this) and ended up w. a sedan because i thought it looked more aggressive and also since i started a family. I couldnt really stand "football" handling my baby into his car seat in the back lol. Anyway what i'm trying to say is although i liked the coupe, it seems the 4 door F80 M3 looks to have a more eye pleasing stance and shape. It's early but I just compared the F80 M3 and F82 M3/M4 spied thread and so far F80 is the winner in the "looks" category.

I didn't say they were going back to halogen. No way the F80 M3 will come with halogens.

My response was merely answering a member who said it looks like BMW was going back to yellow halos.
