That Michelin PSS tire on the ZCP’s are on back order. Owned the car for a wheel. Put 100 miles on it and got a screw in my front tire. Not repairable due to being right on the edge of the side wall.

That if your're washing your car with the FOB in your pocket; each time you hose down the doors lock/unlock and car chirps.

That after hard driving and putting it straight in the garage the entire house smells like the track.

Don't leave bird poop on your hood for 3 days (anyone have a fix? I can see staining after I washed it, not very well mind you)

Driving is very therapeutic, as is washing the car...

I imagine you were testing to see if your 8+ would fit when you get it. Well, you just got a very good reason to go for the iPhone X.

The iDrive screen on my 2018 doesn't go as bright as the screen on my 2017.

I learned that although you need to hit the M1/M2 button twice in order to select MDM, you can just hit the DSC button on the center console 1 time and it will go into MDM. Kind of a bizarre inconsistency.

It is rumored Michelin has exclusive rights to be the sole producer of new tire sizes for BMW. Hence no Contis or anything else.

Hope you found a tire. If not check several BMW dealers. Mine seems to keep plenty in stock due to this.

Good Luck

This might be because it is more likely that you would hit an M1/M2 button by accident thus a second hit for confirmation avoids a scenario where it goes to MDM and you lose control unexpectedly because of the error. With the center counsel DSC button you are less likely to hit that by accident so when you press it once, the program puts you right in it because you likely intended to do it.

It comes down to BMW probably trying to cover their ass from a product liability suit. At least that is what I would recommend to BMW if I was their in house guy.

Regarding bird poop. Leaving it for days will result in clear coat etching. Sometimes will fade away gradually. Sometimes requires a polish. Get rid of bird poop ASAP. Sealants and waxes may not enough to protect the paint.

How can anyone have exclusive rights to a tire size?

My uncle works in the tire business and how he has explained it to me is that you can have exclusive rights to a specific tire size for OEM applications. For example, if BMW wants to use 275/35/20s for its OEM tires they can enter into a contract with Michelin to be the exclusive producer of them for say a year, for BMW. Now where this gets tricky, technically any other producer can make the same size tire (not same tread pattern though) however, if the M3 is the only production car running that size, and it is a new size, there is not much incentive for a tire manufacture to enter that space since those tires would not need replacing until 2 or 3 years after production begins. Thus, technically, a specific size can be on backorder because there is literally no other options. So in a sense it is wholly exclusive in the aftermarket as well, but not for long.

Ok I get that they could have exclusive rights to sell OEM to BMW and others may not have an incentive to produce in the size for a while unless used by other cars. Same was the case for Audi RS5's for a while. Guess I just read the earlier post too literally.

Scratch that. I also learned that there is the little roller control on the left side of the steering wheel to make it brighter.

That the window flexing noises are already driving me a little crazy (300 miles on it). Taking it to the shop next week. Heard there was a bulletin for this issue. M4 I test drove was quiet. My M3 sounds like a rickety carnival ride at times.

The M4 has no door frames, hence no squeak

If you zoom the nav screen in (3D perspective mode) to 40ft and then drive around town, as you pass the buildings they seem to descend as if they were brought down in a controlled detonation.

A friend of mine works at Michelin HQ in Greenville, SC. He told me that Michelin has a contract to exclusively supply the tires for all first-year M models. This is why all 2015 F80/F82 models came with Michelin PSS, 2016 and later years came with Michelin or Continental (my 2016 M4 came with Conti, luck of the draw). Same with 2016 ZCP models and 2016 F87 M2 models.
