revzosport brake cooling ducts - didn't hold up at laguna
*Disclaimer - this is my personal experience, your mileage may very*
just a short post for others considering the revzosport brake cooling ducts. I put mine on a few weeks ago and the actual duct pipes were super-low to the ground (only 1" clearance to the road) and I had a feeling they won't survive a trackday. That's exactly what happened. The left side got completely shredded over the turn 6 dip and rumble stripes at laguna. and then the right side got torn up at the corkscrew rumble strips. Taken them off. Disappointing. you can see how low they're hanging in this picture (right side partially ripped already... when pic was taken) |

That's pretty disappointing. :/

For those who are wondering I am not a noob mechanic and tried several different combination of hose routing and the only way it worked was how it was pictured on the revzosport install pages.. all other options either pinched the hose or i would have to shorten the hose length which means turning radius goes to shit. not really the product fault.. stupid ///m division should have thought of brake cooling ... the m4 underbody and front bumper has zero room for a brake duct right now without major surgery.. |

You might not need the ducting with the essex AP Racing BBK. The vanes on the 372 mm kit especially do a fantastic job keeping the fronts cool.

How much did you lower your car? With the roll bar, this looks like a very serious track car. Are the ducts in this kit 2.5 inches in diameter? I need better brake cooling so as a first resort, I will probably do similar to your car. If the ducts are too vulnerable, then maybe the rotors that flow cooling air better. And as a last resort, a BBK.

I tried this setup on my M4 at Laguna Seca last Friday. Air scoop is 3" X 9". Hose is 2.5" in diameter but squeezed down to about 2" high and 3" wide for more clearance under the anti-roll bar and then back until the hose has to change direction sharply, where I let it be 2.5 inches round again all the way to the disc backing plate. The front of the car is dropped only about 1/2" and the air inlets have 3.5" clearance to the ground. But at the anti-roll bar and behind, there is only about 3" clearance to ground. No speed bumps allowed!
There was no rubbing at Laguna Seca. The hoses and air scoops never touched the ground and there were no wear marks or kinking anywhere on the hoses as they snake up to the backing plate. But the wheels and brakes still got very hot, front and rear, but no fade at all even though I'm running 285 and 315 hoosiers. I need to get some temperature paint to see just how hot the calipers are getting. The caliper dust seals were replaced under warranty just prior to installing this setup. I may have to go to rear cooling ducts or BBK front and rear. But the front ducts must have helped some. Laguna Seca is very hard on brakes if you're going fast.

Just to let u guys know as well, i went with the revozport stage 1 aero package. The front lip didnt hold up well when i was driving on the highway at about 200kph. My car comes with the adaptive suspension and it was set for Sports plus. The lip broke, flew underneath the rear of my car, and nearly hit the car that was following me.
when i went back to the garage for some minor aesthetic repairs, we got some interesting answers from them as well. |
