Those spoke holes might be an SOB to clean if you have Iron brakes.
Overall the BBS wheels are a way better value. Less weight and cheaper? Also I'd get the R101 in the 10.5 width rear. 305/30/19 to me doesnt look right with a 265/35/19 front tire. Unless you are really low. So on the 10.5 inch rear you can do 285/35 or 295/35 and it wont look stretched or anything EDIT: If you want wide in the rear go 20". Get the 11 inch rear and do that same 295/30 or 305/30. It will look proportionate to the fronts since you will now go to the 30 profile in the front. |

I would like to thank everybody for their feedback!
I went against conventional wisdom and placed an order for a set of HRE R101Ls. I know the BBS FI-Rs are tremendous but wanted a wider wheel in the back. I still have not picked a finish, have a week or two to decide. Considering 3: 1) Satin Charcoal 2) Brushed Dark Clear , very popular it seems 3) Brushed Titanium, not as popular? |

Agreed, but so does brushed dark clear. Since you have no real color on your build other than the brake calipers, I would go with a finish that stands out more.

I am not trying to put David@WheelsBoutique on the spot here but he has "promised" me a side-by-side photo of a set of HRE wheels in Brushed Dark Clear and a set in Satin Charcoal. Adding a set in Brushed Titanium to the "photo shoot" will be a plus. |

Rather than upload the entire text about TUV approval, if you're interested in reading more you can check out our article here - HRE EXPLAINS: WHAT IS TUV? Just want to clear that up just in case others had the same assumption about HRE and TUV approval/certifications. |

Both are great options, in my opinion, and both have pros and cons. A pro for BBS is that they are lighter, but a con is that there is no custom options for color or offset like HRE. If you like the color that BBS offers, and the customizing doesn't matter to you, i would go with the weight and money savings and go with BBS. You cant lose either way you choose. If you need some help with getting a set ordered, i would be happy to help.

The OP had stated that one of his reason behind the purchase of hre over BBS was the lack in size/offsets. I was simply trying to make a point that the reason why BBS has limited selection is because all of their rims are sent to be lab tested TUV for geometric tolerance analysis and testing for fatigue and impact certification. BBS is a race driven company so all of their rims are generally thought of as Track proven. I know you are TUV certified but not all of your rims are ACTUALLY certified as stated in your web link but are designed so as to pass the test; b) WHEEL TESTING CERTIFICATES (Certification of wheels as conforming to geometric standards and having passed structural fatigue and impact requirements for specific vehicle and load rating requirements) - Once a manufacturer’s facility is certified they are then able to send wheels to Europe to pass TUV geometric tolerance analysis and testing for fatigue and impact. This is not a generic style-based test, but vehicle-based with each style being tested with the proper widths and offsets and load rating for the appropriate vehicle targets. This is a very time consuming and costly endeavor for any manufacturer to TUV certify their entire wheel offering, particularly a brand like HRE that makes custom fitments and offers dozens of styles for any particular vehicle. Given this fact, HRE does not certify every style and fitment, however we do have multiple styles in several fitments tested, approved and certified for sale in Germany, Switzerland and Austria. Regardless of certification, ALL HRE wheels are designed to pass TUV structural specifications (with varying load ratings depending on vehicle targets) and are sent for certification when the demand for them in Europe meets a minimum threshold. |

The wheels will be here hopefully next week . For those of you who have gone down the path of aftermarket wheels and a suspension change, what is the recommended sequence of "events"? Suspension change, wheels change, drive 500 miles and let the suspension settle, return adjust/lower the suspension and do alignment?
Thanks! |

Same boat here. Glad you went with the HREs.
I thought the HREs were lighter than OP quoted and only within a pound of the BBS. I was initially thinking of the BBS, but I don't like the design when seen straight on. The spokes are flat and thin, no shape. Then I saw the HREs and really like them a lot. They look great at all angles, but only the 19s. I've seen 20s and larger with different offsets and the wheels looked flat. At least the F8x has some concavity. I voted HRE. |
