Fault Code P10B0 on track - Drivetrain Malfunction
Had the Drivetrain Malfunction error came up during a track day then it went to limp mode shortly after. Error code is P10B0.
It threw the code after around 10 minutes on the track into a session. It happened around the 10 min mark for all sessions during the day. Let the car off for a few minutes and code would clear by itself after restarting the car. Drove the car home (around 400 miles away). Code did not come up during the drive home. Did this happen to anyone and what did you find out to fix it? Car is 6MT with K&N drop-in filters, otherwise stock. I start to think if it has something to do with the MAP or MAF sensors, but would like to hear from you all about this. |

I had this malfunction thrown at me 3 or 4 times while on track this season, the engine would stutter and have little power. I would just pit-in, shutdown the engine, restart and the fault would be gone. I would then be off again, but it is still not fun having to pit-in when you're having fun on track . When I brought it at the dealer for service, they said the plugs needed replacing. Code has not shown itself since.

I assume dealers are able to diagnose the problem without the error code come up. Was this the case for you guys? Yes it was not fun driving 50% of what I paid for (20 min sessions and car went limp mode 10 min into each of the sessions). |

I've had this happen multiple times. Very frustrating.
Haven't tracked my ZCP car yet though; were any of yours ZCP? Curious if there'd be the same issue.

ZCP car here, same problem. However, it's only happened once in two events and it may have been caused by running very low on gas, fuel starvation. No matter how many times I restarted, or unhooked the battery it wouldn't reset the error tho. Eventually, 2 weeks later it went off by itself, since I was still to lazy to deal with the dealership visit.

I am bringing the car back to the track this weekend. Have since switched to a different brand of fuel to see if that makes a difference.
Will report back. |

I had the same sputtering and drivetrain malfunction at the track. Went away with a full tank of good gas. Haven't been back since tho.

I was curious about this fault and if it means I should pack an extra set of spark plugs to the track (not a bad idea...), however googling P10B0 it appears to point to too large of a difference between air intake temp and charge temp. The only diagnostic I found was on the 1&2 series forum (link here) where they also show a minor misfire event in 2 cylinders, 1 event on 2, 2 events on 5.
Seems this is a temp plausibility event. Perhaps messing with MAFs (eg, intake mod) could come into play, but I'm not aware of CanAutM3 having mods.

Sorry guys forgot to report back.
Since I got the car back from servicing and using 76 gas exclusively, the car did not have the fault code come up even once including a full track day and many miles of driving. I even went to the same 76 gas station just to make sure there is no variant in this part. I guess in my case it was the "bad gas" that I had been getting near my house. It is a Ralphs' gas station with Costco pricing, so it was tempting. |
