You'll be back...at least that's what happened to me!
I had my '16 Type-R for 9 months and came back to an '17 M3 ZCP. Traded my '15 M4 for the Jag (like you). Overall the Jag was great and I loved it!!! Miss the 'ol raunchy Brit. It's actually a year ago this week that I got mine. No real big issues other than some sloppy exterior trim fit and finish and inferior infotainment. She's also one heavy girl! JLR have come a long way--don't listen to nay-sayers! Only true reasons why I got rid of it was b/c of the perception it created at my workplace and b/c of my auto-ADHD. I'm also a diehard BMW fanboy! GL with it OP. You'll never get tired of listening to that beast and the locomotive pull!!! You also made it just in time b/c the '18MY is a bit of a let down IMO, aside from the updated infotainment system.

How long do those RE71r's last for you in the rear? The MPSS stock lasted me 12k miles before replacing and im still on stock 255 in the front with 18k. I've got the MPSS 295 35 19 now and its a good improvement although with cold temps even here in Cali they aren't too good in 1st/2nd until they warm up a bit. They'll stick in warm much better but with MDM mode you can still break traction easily. |

As far as not being into verts, to each his own, but for me my F83 with the top down is much more exhilarating than the fixed roof versions, and I drive it that way almost all the time. |

Note that many fail to understand, but the Jag DOHC 5.0L is a completely different engine than the Ford DOHC 5.0L. |

RE71Rs are for the person who wants better traction at whatever the cost. They will wear faster. Also, they are definitely louder an not as good in heavy rain (although perfectly drive-able). Of course, the absolute best tires for straight line traction are Mickey Thompson ET Street S/S's. Super sticky. You can floor it in 1st or 2nd and they freakin stick. Dont last long at all and you have to be much more careful in rain, but so worth it if you have a high power car and want ultimate traction.

Sweet car!! But why oh why did Jaguar make the decisions they did? Not that I can afford the top model, but why offer a manual and rear drive in the lesser performance models than neuter the bid daddy one with a crappy transmission and the added weight and blahness of AWD? Doesn't make sense to me.

Never mind AWD done right is great for performance. as far as no manual? Well the last time a mainline performance model from Jaguar had a manual it was a XJS and it was viewed as the dumbest idea they could have had. Heavy, Slow, Terrible Feel were the key words for that gearbox. Even today a gearbox that lives behind a supercharged V8 is heavy and expensive. For the limited market that wants that in this price range, its simply not worth the R&D expense, then the massive certification costs across all the different nations that have their own requirements. |

Yet GM has figured it out with the Z06, the Hellcats, the old GT500, certain Ferrari's. Both RWD only and manuals(well not the hellcats that I recall).
I personally would rather have an engaging drive than an ultimate performance experience that ticks so many other negative boxes. |
