BMW Connected App

Odd question. Anyone else's connected app quit working today? Mine just started crashing on startup (Been working fine previously), shows it running in the background still though. Rebooted phone, removed and reinstalled app, and still no dice. Figured I'd ask around before doing anything more drastic.

(iPhone btw).

Working fine here on my Galaxy S7 with Android Nougat 7.0

what phone do you have?

I called BMW corp,, today and they said it was having technical difficulties ,, and they don't know when it's going to get it working, it's not your I phone

Mine randomly sent me a notification while at dinner that the drive home would now take 34 minutes instead of 4 minutes. Then it proceeded to immediately stop working like you said OP

I'm an Android guy so I don't have an iPhone, but I do have a iPod Touch. One of the reasons I bought it was to run the BMW M Timer app and that works great.

On my Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge, I have the BMW Connected app and it works great. I also have it on my Wi-Fi only Samsung Tab S2 and it works great.

I've tried downloading the BMW Connected app on my iPod Touch and I get the message "Cannot download. This app not compatible with your device." Why would the Connected app not be compatible with an iPod Touch?

I have the same phone/model year. What apps/functions are you able to use? With the old version of Connected, I am able to send nav directions to the car and use some remote functions. I am supposed to have Pandora, but never have been able to get it to work. I downloaded the new version of Connected, but can't get it to show smartphone apps, even when phone is connected by USB. The interface is different than what is shown on the BMW website and the directions on the website don't apply.

Look like it only support apple devices with cellular connectivity. Not sure why it works on your Wi-Fi only S2.

The Android version of the BMW Connected app that you want is 2.0.0.1477 which was released on December 21, 2016: https://play.google.com/store/apps/d...w.connected.na. I've seen this referred to as the "blue" app. The previous version is now called "BMW Connected Classic", the "brown" or "red" app.

If you haven't already done so, you also need to setup an account on the BMW ConnectedDrive portal: https://connecteddrive.bmwusa.com/cd...n?locale=en_US.

From the home screen of the app, if I click on the representation of my car, I have the following functions on the Remote tab: Lock, Unlock, Horn, Headlight. I can also activate Climate Control and Climate Timer. There is also a History tab which shows all commands successfully executed. Even though I downloaded the app on 12/22/16, I could not get the unlock function to work until 2-3 weeks ago. No idea why. At this point, all functions work.

On the home screen there is also a Google Map, which when selected, goes to Vehicle Finder which shows my vehicle position on a Google Map. There are five icons on this screen that show satellite view, re-center, (circle with an arrow, unknown function), walking directions to where my vehicle is located, and refresh.

Also on the home screen are two tabs, Scheduled and Saved. If you click the orange + button to add a trip, it goes to the Destinations page and there are four options, Nearby, Dealers, Parking, and Fuel, plus an orange search button. If you select search, you can input an address and it will use Google Maps to find that location on the map. If you click on the orange arrow button, you have the options Send to Vehicle Messages, Share arrival time, and Show walking directions. Selecting Send to Vehicle Messages will send the location to your car so that you can use the onboard Navigation system. If your Android device is plugged into the console USB port, it will automatically send this address it to the Nav system. Selecting Share arrival time will give you the option to complete the action using several apps. I use the excellent Glympse app, which gives the recipient your real-time location, anticipated route, ETA, and if you want, your speed.

The function that doesn't even show on my app but is shown on the Google Play page, is the vehicle range, including fuel level.

I've never been able to get ConnectedDrive apps to work with my S7 Edge. This is one of the reasons that I bought the iPod Touch, particularly to use the M Laptimer, which isn't even available on Android. Pandora and other streaming music apps work great, if I'm sitting in the garage with a good Wi-Fi signal!

I can use Pandora, Amazon Music, and other streaming music apps to stream music with my Edge, but only when it's set up as an external USB device. The Next/Previous functions work, using the steering wheel roller button, iDrive, or the next/previous buttons on the dash.

Thanks for your help! I see basically the same functionality, although Vehicle Finder doesn't work. I get the message "No vehicle position available yet. Please execute the vehicle finder if available." When I get to my car, I will check to see if GPS Tracking is enabled.
