About to update software from 57.4 to 60.2 (3?)

Hi guys,

I've had a couple drivetrain malfunctions here and there for the past year or so, so I decided after reading some of the posts to update my software.

My question is... my car is version f020-15-11-505, so i think thats 57.4

The newest update is either a 60.2 or a 60.3

however, I have been reading some recent posts saying how the car becomes quieter and just in general more tame to drive.

Does anyone have any experience with this? I would rather have my idrive reset once in a while then have to update my car which makes it less M like.

Thanks!

Are you updating the software yourself? Or thru a dealer?

I'm fairly certain only the dealer can do it, I could be wrong

Yea I just dropped it off to a dealer.

I want the 58.3 but they can only update to the newest one which is like... 60 something at this point.

I suppose the newer m3/m4s all have this version but from what I am reading it is quite different from the older ones... like the exhausts being quieter and power more limited in the bottom end.

My car was one of the first ones made for my 2016.

It can very well be done yourself, and this way you don't have to update to the latest available. Check out the DYI/Coding forum, there have been posts on how to do it.

I just got my car back from the dealer.

I have the newest version now...

So I don't really have traction issues from a dead stop but I think it is because they cut some power.

I can't tell if my exhausts got quieter but I don't think so.

They replaced some unit in my car to fix my idrive from restarting so they had to update it as well.

Its a bit less fun to drive but it is much easier to now. I don't know how I feel about this lol
