Selling BM3 license: have a question about the process

My G80 is nearly here so it’s time to finish de-modding my F80. Thus I’ll be selling my BM3 license. The instructions are 99% clear but I had just one question:

After flashing my car back to stock / re-locking the ECU can I transfer the license at any point in the future afterwards, or do I need to do both steps one after another in the same go?

As long as you flash to stock and lock…then you can transfer the license when you want.

I tried selling my licence to 2 people in last 2 weeks. Bm3 for some reason is asking for ownership/registration proof of the people who are buying the licence. Eventually both of them backed up, so I'm stuck with the licence. I bought my licence directly from bm3

What do you mean by "ownership registration/proof of the people who are buying"? Usually all they ask me for is my VIN.

I am interested in hearing this as well. I have been waiting to buy a used license, and this sounds odd.

How do they want you to prove ownership? Copy of reg? The bank has my title for now, so not sure what else they would want or how to prove the car is mine. Loan info? Is it me or does that sound a bit invasive? Infringing on privacy?

Maybe I will be using a coder vs. BM3....

The only time I've heard a similar story was when a guy blew his motor and had a fire (roasted DME too), so he couldn't flash back to Stock and Relock. PTF wanted him to show proof of the insurance "paying out for totaled" before they transferred the license to me. He did that and we had no probs.

The problem comes in when someone sells their car but forgot to Lock, and later tries to sell their BM3 license. Too many people sell their car with the tune and still try to sell the license. BM3 pushes back on this.

As long as the seller has flashed to stock and locked their ECU the buyer just needs to make an account on the bootmod3 site, then use the BM3 agent and connect their car to the BM3 servers. Once that communication is done once, the transfer can happen.

I tried sharing a screenshot from our conversation with bm3. I purchased the licence from their website couple months ago. Before switching to MHD i flashed back and locked the DME on my car. When i try to transfer the licence i have error and after contacting them they were requesting software ID information from other vehicle, after we sent that, they were asking for proof of ownership/registration. If someone can help it would be greatly appreciated

This wasn't the case with me. I flashed back to stock and locked my dme before switching to another tuning platform.

I did the exact same thing you are showing and i still can't transfer my licence.

I just successfully transferred my license to a buyer, didn’t need to do anything out of the ordinary. It was fully automated, went smoothly.

If your license is ready to transfer (stock, locked) then have your buddy hook up to BM3 (create account, read car software IDs), then you should be able to transfer to him inside your BM3 account screen. He needs to be setup and read IDs before you do the transfer.

No. A used license won't transfer again.

can i sell my license without locked dme and flash to stock ?

because I had a serious accident with my vehicle and it wreck and I cant no longer flash stock tune and lock DME because car was sold to my insurance.

No. My first M4 got totaled and I had to go to the copart lot to flash it back to stock and relock the DME. Insurance will let you if it hasnt been sold at auction yet. Google your VIN and you should be able to find the lot number

I THINK my car was sold to other country for sur, i google my vin and i found nothing...

I talked to support to try to get out of it. You can try, but they are ZERO tolerance. If you don't relock the DME, they won't do it.
