I just updated my F80 ED timeline thread but for those looking at ED post-May, I just today got confirmation of late June ED pickup! That said I placed my order 3-4 weeks ago so I guess no guarantee that a new customer ordering now will be as fortunate

Yea... does anyone know if they can hold it after eop? And how long? Was hoping for a July ED ... wondering if that's still possible
Just get an allocation before June 1, 2018; yes BMW will hold the vehicle as my F83 finished production July 10,2017 for a September 25,2017 ED- as per Welt staff it was stored at Werk Regensburg.

f80 production ending in May 2018??

I just ran across this article a few hours ago saying that f80 production will end in May 2018.

refer to the following article, please

https://www.bmw-sg.com/bmw-models/bm...-2/2018/02/01/

how trustworthy do you find the article is?

If the article were to be true, only m4 would be on sale until 2020? kind of hard to understand why BMW would have to do that.

I took my car into the dealer today. It would seem the article is true as I heard it from my Genius.

gee I don't quite understand what differences there are between m4 and m3 that make it only possible for m4 to be continuously produced and not m3.

Probably something to do with release cycles. BMW does some interesting things.

Because the regular 3 Series (F30) production ends this year, all 3 Series body styles end, including the M3. The 4 Series body goes on for another two years, so the M4 continues as well.

So Motor Trend is reporting that this early end to production (May vice Oct) is due to the requirement for an Otto particle filter by June 2018. As this would require modification to the exhaust BMW have decided to end production early.

As the M4 exhaust should be extremely similar and will continue production this seems strange, but if true is likely the cause for the EOP change.

EDIT: Just clicked on the link from willthestud above and it is the same info. Sounds reliable to me if this is an actual new regulation.

The new emissions law only apply to the EU.

It is therefore possible that the EU spec F80 is indeed May-2018 as rumoured while rest of the world spec F80s EOP are still October-2018.

Reading on the news about the M550i stop production, it doesn't affect US versions of the M550i and it is still be produced for US consumption. So there is a chance that the EOP for the F80 is for Europe and Asia only (The WLTP standard applies to Japan and India as well)

Even if the M3 and M4 exhausts are exactly identical, it would still require an engineering change, a change to the bill of material, a production line change, and I'm sure a bunch of other paperwork for the M3. So it's probably just not cost effective for four months of production.

Your last week must be different than his. Because last week it was May. This article says August. I'm sure he will accept your apologies however
