You guys think this is a DIY job or should I dare brave another local Indy shop?

Wasn't sure how complex removing the wheel is gonna be
Airbags (Explosives) involved...I'd take it to the dealer or trusted body shop.

I would've said just get it wrapped in alcantara... Cheaper than buying a new wheel and looks really good.

BTW... what dive shop does that guy own? I love diving in Provo, but I haven't been in a long time because of the crazy airfare.

I would have done Alcantara but I like the heated wheel action. He's actually on the smaller island of Grand Turk. You gotta take a small scary plane from Provo. It's Grand Turk Diving http://www.gtdiving.com

Use the DIY for the BMW performance wheel. Same procedure to R&R. Once you disconnect the battery, you lose its ability to explode if wires touch, or whatever triggers ignition.

Almost looks like a sharp ring or watch piece ran across the leather.

I haven't done it personally, but I don't believe it's much more difficult than doing any other cars with aux buttons. There's probably tons of guides.

Think you pinged me on Ebay yesterday with the wheel I had for sale. DIY is pretty straightforward. Follow most of the steps in this thread, with the exception of the wiring etc.

http://f80.bimmerpost.com/forums/sho....php?t=1204092

Took me under an hour to install the M Performance one.

Yes - is DIY if you have the tools. My friend helped me swap this bad boy in easily. Took about an hour really, but took two in reality with the beers in between.

Wow.

Holy shit.

My question is this - how the hell did this even happen? Since when did changing 4 wheels require someone going inside the cabin with a damned razor blade? Did they take a blade to cut off the annoying minute little rubber pieces that stick out on new tyres or something? Wtf.

Either way, I'd be livid. Do as much as you can to spread the news about the shop, and piss the owner off by dragging him into small claims court. Most of the time, not much happens, but at least you'll waste the bastard's time.

Its a stock wheel wrapped by Coby Wheel. They do a good job and you can customize the colors. The silver trim was painted locally. If you're gonna do the trim, you'll need to get the same push washers used to keep it attached to the center trim piece.

Thank you for naming them. So many people complain about a shop's bad deeds and then never name the shop.
