Has anyone else had issues with marring when using clay? I didn't have any issues with my E92. I even get marring when using a nanoskin sponge

Make sure you're generous with the lube.

It's all about lubrication. If the clay is marring then there isn't enough.

There is Zero chance you are taking something abrasive, outing it on a another panel that is softer than the abrasives in the clay, and not causing any marring. Heck, towels scratch paint, how is clay not going to? The theory of claying is that it abrades away the contamination and pulls dirt from the microscopic pinholes in the paint (where dirt nestles itself). where do you think that dirt goes? It becomes one with the clay and you are now dragging that all around the rest of the car building up more and more dirt in the clay. Always polish after claying, and always clay before polishing. They go hand in hand. |
