Full xpel or not to full xpel
Need some input. As you all prob know my car is due end of December. I order the black f80. I live in the city but I park in a industrial area for work. This will be my DD. Should I xpel the whole car or shall I only do the high impact areas.

Just do the high impact areas. It's not some rare exotic that needs a full wrap.

But anyway, whole car ppf is excessive imo and only high impact areas are needed. I actually only did my front bumper and headlights as that sees the most action on the highway. |

On a black car go full and ceramic coat. You won't regret it. When it doesn't rain, I wash my car once every two months. I just dust my car everyday before I take her out and it stays clean like after the wash. I never have to worry about swirl marks so I use waterless car wash whenever I want to and be worry free. Black car loves swirl marks as you know. Hope it helps.

High impact areas (front bumper, headlights, partial hood / fenders, backs of mirrors). If not comfortable you can go in between (full hood and fenders vs. partial, A pillars, CF roof). Small stuff like door cups and luggage strip are cheap so personal preference on those. Hard to justify cost of full car IMO.

There are many threads on this topic and a large concentration have cropped up in the last few weeks. The responses tend to be the same. All (full wrap), some (high impact areas) or none at all. I personally would go for the some option and call it a day. I don't think a full wrap is worth it or necessary on this type of vehicle. You're looking at anywhere from ~$4,500 - $10,000 for that. IMHO the best advice regarding ppf was given by Bruce S, one of the resident detailers on the forum...wrap the car with as much film as you're comfortable paying for. I'm paraphrasing but that was the essence of his commentary and I completely agree.

Does the answer also depend on how long you keep cars? I rarely last more than 18 months so I don’t bother with any PPF, but I will do wax, etc...if I kept my cars for several years I would do as much ppf as I could afford, as mentioned above.

Paying $4,000+ for full wrap is not necessary IMO. |

That's a fair question; however, I believe the approach of wrapping the car with as much film as you're comfortable paying for considers several factors. Specifically, lease vs. buy, exposure to the elements, miles driven, personal preference, budget, etc.

I did whole hood, bumper, headlights, fenders, mirrors, runners, bottom 2" of the doors, increased the rear fender flare, and some protection on the back bumper (aft of wheels, just next to the trunk). I plan on keeping the car for years and it already has saved me a couple times |

If you are keeping the car long-term and have the extra cash, I would do the whole car given your color. Of course, I can't deal with black as I would be OCD about swirls, so the money would definitely be worth it to me...

Dark color car, or if you plan to keep it for a longer period of time. Go full wrap. Budget will dictate whether you want a full custom, or a kit. Most all BMWs have the full kit option. You will get generally great coverage from a kit install as long as the factory declared wrapped edges are wrapped.
Full custom will cost you more and take more time and will also cost you more. Bruce |

I have seen most of that type of work with Xpel priced between $1,500 and $2,000 at the most though... |

Also, have a black F80 and my intention is to keep long term. No question full wrap (if you can justify and afford it).
Maintenance is super easy, and you dont need to be super anal on the swirls. The self healing of the PPF makes it worth the price. I am considering ceramic coating, but been happy with just using sealant. |
