Sparkling Graphite -vs- Space Gray -vs- Mineral Gray

These 3 series sedan photos represent their respective grays well. Seeing them together could be helpful if you're considering MG for your F80/F82, as I am. Note, Singapore Gray would be a shade darker than MG.

I think Mineral Gray might be the best option for the M3/M4. Sure, some may call it boring, but would be the color I could live with on a regular basis.

San Marino Blue? I could go all day for that on the M3.

I went to look at the colors because I was stuck between AW and MG, every other color just looked way to out there.

MG seemed very dull when I saw it. regardless of being a metallic paint it isn't as "Full Bodied" as the space grey, it just looked a little lack lustered to what the pictures showed all over the forum. I was disappointed because I wanted to pick MG because I loved space grey.

TL;DR:
Go see MG to make sure you like. To me it was just a total let down.

If it's because of it looking dirty all the time then don't worry. All leather gets dirty, the only difference is with a lighter colour you can see it ......and deal with it! I had a 335i with oyster leather, regularly took 3 kids in the car and the leather was still showroom fresh when I sold it. I kept some leather wipes in the boot and if the leather looked a bit dirty I would just wipe it over with the wipes. Maybe did this once a week and it only takes around 60 seconds with the wipes!! Trust me......

Do it

It's cause I'm a slacker. I never suit up. I am wearing Jeans or Khaki shorts year round. I don't mind cleaning my leather and I actually clean/condition it regularly anyway. I just don't want to try to sell my car in a couple years with blue ass cheek marks.

I'm also 6'7" ~275lb so I put some wear onto seats. Not sure if that will make the jeans rub off more or not lol.

Exactly .. perfectly put.. Everyone is going nuts over MG, so I went to the dealership to check it out. It looked so bland on every single model it was used on. It looks like it belongs on a far cheaper car. There is no depth to it.

If you want grey, just go individual and get something good like Singapore Grey or something deeper than MG

Sadly, I think I have to agree about MG. I wanted to get that color, for many reasons. But it really does lack depth, IMO, and doesn't look too different than the finish on much cheaper cars. Too bad. MG/SO would look so good.

Agree about Singapore Grey. Wish they had it for this car. It has a lot of depth and complexity. It can look different in different light.

I pretty much ruled out MG when I saw it in person. To each his own tho. It's definitely low-pro, and IS a classy color.

It has not been an M3 base color since 08. Space grey from 09-13. Now mineral.

Mineral grey is the only color option I really care for, but it's too dark for my taste. I hope there is a lighter gray or darker blue option for the 2016 model. Wish space grey was offered.

It was replaced by Space Graphite. J/K

Assuming you meant Sparkling Graphite, that's gone now, but If you meant Space Gray, that's still available on the 6 Series.

It is possible you could still get Sparkling Graphite from Individual even though it's not currently in use as a standard color. Not sure about that.

Its not my opinion.. Its a fact. I looked it up in the dictionary under "Mineral Grey" and it defined the term the blandest color for a BMW. Typically used on Kia Sonatas and Suzuki Samurai's.

I also emailed the International Fact Establishing body in Geneva, and they confirmed this.. Its a Fact.

Went out of my way to go see MG in person and it honestly looks like shit. So bland and lifeless, can't believe they chose it for an M car. The other non-white monochrome color options are SSII, which is also godawful with the baby blue hue, no jet black for the first time in over 10 years, and sapphire black. The latter is the only decent option but far prefer JB or carbon/Jerez.

I really don't get the palette with this car.

It looks pretty bland in lot of the pictures I've seen too, but on an M3 when clean and shiny, my guess is it would look better...regardless I'm leaning toward Mineral White because there would be more depth and contrast with the carbon fiber roof.
