When you get the shut down procedure wrong and it sticks in neutral bonging away telling you the car will roll away (even though the hand brake is on) if you get out shut the door and try to lock the car the cheeky fucker honks the horn at you very loudly.

I learned that you do not park at Dania beach in Hollywood, Florida because a meth head will smash the front passenger window, go thru the car and remove $4 in quarters.
Removing the tinted smashed glass had to be done gently and slowly as not to damage the rubber seals or scratch the leather bolsters. Had to do this to get the car to the BMW dealership so I can spend almost a grand. But why no alarm activation? That's what I learned two days ago..

If you have the storage location under the headlight controls, make sure you close it before you get back in your car...otherwise it’ll take some skin off your shins.

Dania Beach and Hollywood are two different cities. Hollywood is better, but they’re both not the best beaches to visit.

Learned that the passenger mirror only goes down in reverse when the mirror setting switch is on the driver's side mirror. Weird.

That's because sometimes you don't want it to tilt down at the curb, you want it to look straight back when you back up. Leaving the switch set to the driver side mirror means that you may want to adjust it. The E9x generation did the same thing.

Sometimes I think that people who think that the F80/F82/F83 does weird things have never owned a BMW before.

Well the last BMW I owned didn't have the feature, so your snide remark was unnecessary. And so what if the f80 might be someone's first BMW?

A previous car of mine tilted whichever side mirror the switch was set to, and it had a middle setting so neither would go down if you didn't want them to. That makes a lot of sense to me. Don't even see the need for the driver side to go down at all, so what you said doesn't even really make sense to me.

I discovered something new

When I recline my seat, I can't just hold the button and have it recline all the way. It goes down a bit, then stops. Then I have to click the button again and it reclines a bit, then stops.... Is that normal?

Nice... If parallel parking on the left side of a street (ie, one-way or if you drive to a British-influenced territory) I'd like to have the choice. 90% of the time I leave the switch where it won't let the mirrors tilt since I don't parallel park much.

FWIW every BMW I've had that dipped the mirrors in reverse behave the same. The older ones just never dip either mirror since they don't have memory for them.

Yup. I live in a larger city and parallel park all the time, often on the left side. I'd love my driver's side mirror to tilt when I'm doing that.

Do you have the overhead cam view? That is a life saver when parallel parking.

If you are the only one that drives the car set seat program 2 to the same position but with the driver's side mirror tilted down.

It's not as good as auto-tilt, and you have to hold down the seat program button until the mirror reaches the downward position, but it's the best solution I've found.

I do and I agree, it's the best view. Problem is my cam won't default to that view. So I have to rely on muscle memory as I'm backing up (slide iDrive controller to the left, rotate one clockwise click, push, slide controller to the right). Not a perfect answer when you're turning a wheel and reversing.

Interesting (and innovative) idea. It would work for me, but again, not a perfect solution when you're turning a wheel and reversing.

Interesting. My camera defaults the view previously used (whether overhead or regular backup). If I want to change, in iDrive the view icon is already pre-selected so simply pushing the wheel once switches the view.

Dont know if this would work, but perhaps before you begin to reverse you can push the camera button to enable overhead view and then start to reverse? Not sure if overhead would stay or it would automatically switch you you to reverse view once you put the car in reverse.

Do you mean switching between rear view and overhead view? Just press down on the iDrive controller, give it a little tap and it switches back and forth.
