Mines a DD, mainly motorway/ dual carriage ways for 100 miles a day. I pick up a few stone chips but not enough for me worry too much about it.
This is my 3rd M4 and an AMG in the middle (don't ask) and they have been the best alrounders ive ever had, although I think either a convertible or an M3 may be next.

daily. 31K Miles at the moment. The ONLY time I don't drive it, is in the snow. With or without snow tires, the clearance of the car scares the sht out of me. Too easy to hit a patch of snow/ice. I don't know how people can resist not driving it! Its too great of a car.

Not a DD, more fun to drive sport cars less frequently, you appreciate them more then IMO!

I'm still trying to understand why some people with an M3 or M4 would not make it their daily driver. I've had my M4 for over 3 years now and it's my only car. It obviously is my daily driver.

DD, 57K miles on it and counting. Have Nokian R2 rims/tires for snow and winter.

I daily drive mine. Was the main reason I ultimately got it over the 718 Boxster S (my original car of choice). Suspension, engine response, steering are always left in Sport Plus.
The only problem is I can't get home into my underground lot without scraping. Every single time. Even going at an angle. What I have to do is to go down in reverse, but the key fob scanner to get in is on the passenger's side when I back in. Get out, walk around to scan, and then rush back into car. Back down in before the door closes (which has a very short timespan). The only car I'd otherwise consider DD'ing is a base 911. Got too used to the performance of the M; mostly everything else feels so gutless after. Was in an (older) Cayenne S last week and couldn't get used to it. |

The things we do for our cars. Non-car people probably think you are crazy, but I totally get it. You should definitely rig up something that allows you to the reach the scanner without having to get out of the car (like the hand extension in the post above, haha). Or a nice stick would probably work, and it would double as a defensive tool. |

I like that idea. I was thinking of using one of those "extending" wash wands or the like, and tape the key fob to the end of it. Detract it when not in use. Extend it when you have to reach out. Also, the key fob scanner is not only on the other side, but also on an incline. The engineers decided to save money by designing the ramp to the underground parkade as short as possible (hence the steepness and scraping), and the clearance of the opening also as small as possible. I used to scrape the top of my F150 going in there. Knowing how the BMW handbrakes don't fully set in unless you really pull them all the way up. If you don't yank on it hard enough, to your horror the car will start sliding backwards as you've opened your door just about to rush to the other side... My i3 has active cruise and a carpool sticker. That's the only reason I split duties with the M3. That and saving on fuel costs. It does make me appreciate the M3 even more though.
