The car sounds really nice stock. You have to hear it in person. I love the sound

Beautiful . If I'd change one thing, I'd keep the carbon fiber roof just because it provides a really nice contrast.

Oh, so if you go with Moon roof you lose carbon fiber roof?

Unfortunately so . It's an either/or selection.

I am getting it because I truly wanted it... hate leather in summer... although the M leather is very nice indeed! If you are getting the executive package, keep in mind that it includes the Extended Leather in the package. So, if you get the cloth, and the Exec. Pkg, there's no credit for not choosing Extended Leather ($950).

Here are photos of the cloth. http://f80.bimmerpost.com/forums/sho...ighlight=cloth

Those that have it said it was extremely comfortable and it matches the CF trim in the car very nicely.

EDIT: At the 46:15 mark in this very detailed video, Carlos talks about the cloth seats they had on the demo car.
http://f80.bimmerpost.com/forums/sho....php?t=1062930 I don't know if you watched this video yet, but it's very informative and detailed on not only the simple things, but many of the mechanical and design aspects of the car.

Asking questions is great (and encouraged), but you won't be reaping the full value of this excellent website and resource unless you learn to use the search function. Even if everyone that clicks on this thread chooses to respond, that still won't give you the perspective of all the past answers to the questions you are asking.

As you can see from my link above and the one posted earlier, it is easy to use Google to search this site, and the results are usually pretty good.

Cheers

YES! I think I wore out the search function a few times ... but you literally can find answers to everything, and the discussions that result from a single question give even more in depth info. I feel so "prepared" for this car because of all the info found here.

Like crap, pure lawnmower...on youtube and magazines of course.

In real life, maybe not as good as a V8 I suppose but having never owned a V8 car the sound this car makes with a stock exhaust is addicting. Open the valves and cruise a parking lot, it sounds like it's a snarling growling monster, yes stock exhaust.

There's a thread on just that subject somewhere in the forum....they seem to love it. I just could not pass up the chance to get a car with a leather dash without having to crap out six figures. I don't think you can get the full leather treatment with speed cloth.

Either/or. The Carbon Fiber roof is such a unique feature in the industry right now it is incredibly hard to pass up. I like sunroofs but the cf roof is pure car porn.

Two things you should make sure you are ok with:

1. If you select DCT, it's not as silky smooth as a traditional auto.
2. The noise level in the cabin. It's likely BMWs loudest car by a margin and louder than pretty much all modern sedans on sale.

If you are ok with those two I can't see anything else being an issue as a DD. I DD mine and would not trade for any other BMW. The Macan is pretty nice but once you are used to a car as sharp as the F8X or E9X M3 it's really hard to enjoy something less sharp as much.

Just go and listen to one at the dealer...you at least deserve a test drive. The Macan T has nice burbles in-between shifts but thats all you hear. M3/4 much louder. Sounds different. There are a ton of videos on you tube of the exhaust note. Initially sounded weird to me (but honestly was expecting a V8 sound), but now it sounds normal...note I don't have a car yet, but even on the videos and recent top gear episode I'm already used to the sound and OK with it and can identify it just by the sound.

The Macans I test drove (3 of them) were all very tight, and very nice. But they are not a sports car (heck neither is the M3/4) and that extra weight and higher center of gravity is noticeable in the Macan, but they did a great job with the suspension - almost unbelievable going fast through tight turns, but the 4000+ lbs is definitely noticeable. M3/4 is a completely different animal than a Macan. The back seats in the Macan are very cramped....Not trying to convert you but I knew what i was after (performance and daily drivability occasionally hauling 3 kids and the boss) didn't realize what I really wanted until I drove it....Macan and M3 both fit the bill, just have been in SUVs so long didn't consider the sedan until I drove it. Can't wait for her to arrive...

M3 will be my daily! I'll be getting it in the Spring here in Baltimore, so I shouldn't have to deal with snow. And then most of my driving will most likely be in Los Angeles

You don't need the shade. I think the configurator throws that in and you cannot remove it... your dealer can. You don't need it. Unless you really want the moonroof, stick with the CF roof... looks so much better!

Car sounds absolutely awesome bone stock.
Some complain it's too quiet, some complain it's too loud, but to me, it's just right.

The morning startup sound sends a shiver down the spine of anyone within 50 foot radius, including the neighbors. I did scare a few bystanders a few times with that sound, but inside the car, it's just great.

a

P.S.: Just like online pictures distort the true color of the car, the Youtube videos do weird things to the sound. You have to see the car for yourself to form an opinion on the color, and hear it for yourself to judge the sound.

IDK...the car has GPS and an internet connection...why on earth would one need directions sent to them? If someone is that technically incompetent, this likely isn't the car for them. Sounds like something old folks in 7 series may find useful.
