F8x - TPMS - Maximum Duration/Life Span
OK, so how long have you gone with the 433mhz tire pressure sensor before needing to get it replaced. I think of it as an item with a life span in time in lieu of how often you change your tires.

They last around 4-5yrs. You can rebuild them.

TPMS kits - Sans Sensor
So if I change out my tires and not service the TPMS, there is a risk, should my tires last longer than two years, the system will start to fault, because the battery has died in the sensor? (The fix, will be to replace sensor when faults occur, at next tire change, or simply remove tire, replace sensor, place tire back on)
What is the difference of needing just a kit, vs the sensor being replaced? I have seen charges where they indicate service done to the TPMS at a cost of $3 a wheel. DO they just take the stem out replace O-rings, caps, etc.? Forgive my ignorance, I have never paid much attention to tires before.
