99% of us have black dashes. You'd almost never notice it. That interior has a light color and accentuates the notch.

Do the 2018s still have a 12V port underneath the glove box to the right of the center console?

My wife is getting a 2018 M3 CP with the Executive Package, but without CarPlay or Wireless Charging.

Both her her 2011 335is and my 2016 M4 Coupe have this 12V port underneath the glove box. I have a dual-outlet USB converter plugged into each one which allows passengers to charge their phones if they want.

In the M4 I also have a 12V port in the rear of the center console at the bottom. I have a dual-outlet USB converter plugged into this one for the convenience of possible rear seat passengers. Does the M3 have this 12V port too?

My MY17 M3 has the USB port on the dash and I have the wireless charging option as well. My OCD is pretty bad, but in this case the USB port there does not "trip my OCD $hit latch" I actually use the wireless charger in my car when needed and my passenger will use the dash USB port if needed.

This should be retro-fitable, but will most likely require the addition of the BMW USB hub that plugs into the back of the head unit, and possibly some minor coding based on what I have previously read on the topic. I was thinking about adding a 3rd USB port inside the glove box (which came in older cars) as there is a "blank" plate inside the glove box for this purpose. There is also an unused USB port on the back of the head unit with limited functionality.

My car also has the 12V socket under the glove box. My guess is that port is standard on all 3/4 series, but don't know for sure.

Is that middle "///M" stitched piece factory on the 18's? Or did you add that piece on aftermarket?

Individual will do that, but obviously when you order the car

Hey,

Sorry to have just discovered this old thread...

Yes. It only comes in those cars with ("6NW") wireless charging.

I was initially on board with your "symmetry" argument but, I'm starting to feel that the (in black - Uugh!) stitching may look a bit too gaudy.

For some reason, mine (in white) looks better proportioned. Not that it matters. This will be "ixnayed" soon enough!

I've been looking around for a replacement center trim piece (Amaro) and, strangely enough, the part - I presume blank - for cars without
wireless charging, is actually more expensive than for the piece used for/with (USB) wireless charging. Also, inexplicably, these parts are
more readily available on Euro sites?!?

You really do not need a USB hub, as mentioned. There is a (4 pin/USB?) connection behind the head unit.

If you don't want to tear into your dashboard, there exists a (VW/Audi) 4 pin to Male USB adapter cable that can be used to directly
connect to the 12v socket under (w/ a USB plug/adapter) the glove box. Although you do need to remove the trim panel under the glove
box in order to route the cable properly.

I used this to activate my glove box USB connector (also, previously mentioned), as I didn't want to open up (hotel/valet) my side (rocker)
panel trim because it was too tight a fit and the trims' clips are easily broken.

Cheers!
