Yes Ista is required, think about it this way. When you replace your battery you have to let the DME know to make the proper adjustments. The same go’s for the injectors and most modules.

How are your stock dampers holding up after all these years on those lowering springs? Or did you switch to aftermarket coilovers at some point?

That's great to know. I would like to do a mild drop on my F80 but the risk of damaging the stock dampers has given me some pause. Maybe they have more margin built into them than I had given them credit for. I don't really want to make the rear any lower but would like to decrease the front tire-fender gap by maybe 0.75-1.00". Hopefully this wouldn't be too taxing on the front dampers if the spring rate is correct.
