North Carolina (Charlotte) Emissions with Mid Pipe
I just picked up a 2015 M4 and am looking at the Active Autowerke mid pipe. Does anyone know if this will pass emissions in North Carolina? In other words, are the primary cats good enough to please inspection stations?

This might be relevant:
https://www.ncdot.gov/dmv/vehicle/re...on/inspection/ http://deq.nc.gov/about/divisions/ai...ion-calculator Basically sounds like as long as you don't have a CEl from it and aren't using a CEL reset device that prevents the car from going into readiness you should be fine. |

Mecklenburg won't be exempt according to the reports I have heard. I think only California is more of a pain in the ass with car rules than NC is. I hate that I can't tint my windows as dark as I would like. I see dark tinted cars with SC plates all the time!

It should pass as it only deletes secondary cats which arent monitored anyway...I have no issues here in Nashville and have put them on 5-6 customer cars now...

Just to add - passed NC inspection (in Mecklenburg county) today with AWE exhaust (no secondary cats), BMS intakes and JB4 hooked up but on Map 0. Literally changed it to Map 0 on the way there.
Also, the tint wasn't inspected because I had the top down. No problem. |

Not to revive a dead thread, but in Durham county as long as you don't throw a CEL I never had an issue passing with resonated test pipes and secondary cat delete on my E92. Even with the smell and everything - most shops have no idea what they're looking at for visual, and without a CEL they can't "prove" anything is out of place since they don't use sniffers. I had the Evolve Tune on it.
I had more problems with my tint that was 5% too dark than I ever did with emissions. |
