My neighbor has this and I find the BimmerCode App to be much better, faster, more user friendly, and with more options.

Interested in this app. Do the settings stay in the car if you unplug the wifi adaptor or do you need to keep it plugged in the whole time?

Yes,
you code what you want then you disconnect the app and unplug the OBD2 module....itll always be there unless the Stealership updates your cars firmware.

Anyone know where the OBD2 port is on the 2018 M4?

The videos I have seen have the port by the hood release but there is no port in that location on my M4.

I believe it has been moved to a position more underneath the dash, without a cover (just about where you might expect to find it). Someone can correct me if I'm wrong.

Greetings from Manila! This is my first post!

I just purchased the Carly device and Pro app for use on my 2016 F80 (M3) and 2015 E84 (X1). I was able to code:

-door handle lights on reverse
-disable seat belt warning
-enable last memory for start-stop function
-enable last memory for air recirculation
-enable mirror fold (on X1)

On the M3's exhaust flap, it reverts back to default after about a minute of disconnecting the app (or leaving the function) from the Carly device.

I will be spending more time on this in a few days.

From my understanding that is how it is designed when I read the instructions. You have to stay on the exhaust flap screen or it will revert back, but I believe it is after 10 minutes. I always stay on the screen so I never tested it.

I was able to code the warnings off, the mirror fold, dvd in motion, and turn of ASD. The only function that I didn't find that I wanted was changing the Nav lady to the British version.

Have you seen option to turn on "Enhanced Bluetooth"

I'm assuming the "Nav Lawyer Warning Screen" can be turned off?

You can turn the warning off. Talking with Alex@Alpine that does remote coding he recommends staying away from messing with the seatbelt chime. I'm pretty certain I saw Enhanced Bluetooth in there too. My car has it so I wasn't really looking for it.

Can this app or BimmerCode do the necessary coding for LCI tail light swap?

I didn't plan on turning seatbelt chime off but did Alex give a reason not to do it?

BimmerCode (which I have) should be able to do this. You will have to use "Expert Mode" which means you need to know the specific parameters of the applicable ECUs and change them manually with the app.

Are you sure about the "Expert Mode" in BimmerCode as I know I saw options for the rear to change it to LEDs? It actually has the ability to change the bulbs to LED and change the monitoring as well (cold/warm).

I use Bimmercode too. Never see values on main screen (without Expert Mode) to change the rear lights to LED.

Use the Expert Mode and code it

I did not actually look for any coding for LCI as my car is already LCI. However, IIRC, LCI tail light coding requires several different parameter changes in a few different ECUs so you will most likely have to use Expert Mode to change/code the parameters manually.

Did anyone with a 2018 model able to fold their side mirrors using the keyfob? I coded it using Carly but it won't work. It only works with the door handle.

Codes that worked for me on a 2018 model:
- Seat Belt Chime off
- ASD off
- Side mirrors unfold with unlock
- Door handle lights switch on during reverse
- Control exhaust flaps (but kinda stupid because you have to stay on screen)

Does anyone know if you can code the electronics to turn off when you shut off engine? Instead of double push button or Park and lock.

Not sure about turning off the electronics with the engine, but I have coded mine to turn off when you open the door (after the engine is shut off). My car is a MY17 so I am not sure if anything changed for MY18 to affect coding this feature. But this feature is a very popular/common one that is well documented.

I was hoping someone that has seen both could comment. I’m thinking about ordering the Vgate WiFi OBD2 reader and the BimmerCode app. What OBD reader did you use? Did you find anything in the app that it wasn’t able to code?

I found a video of an M2 being coded with the BimmerCode app and thought it looked easier and more reasonably priced than Carly. Plus, this OBD unit should work with my two other cars if I pair it with a separate OBD app.
