MY2017 M3/M4 ends 2/2017. MY2018 M4 starts 3/2017, MY2018 M3 starts 7/2017

From a dealership bulletin:

FEBRUARY END OF PRODUCTION - MODEL YEAR 17

(Updated 1/31) Moderator Note: Previously there had been a mix of conflicting reports about whether the delay would include both the M3 and M4 or only the M3. It is now confirmed that only the M3 will experience the break in production. Note that this is a BMW NA specific delay.

F80 (M3)

There will be a 4 month production break between MY17 and MY18 M3. MY18 start of production is July 2017.

The last day to add individual content is January 4th.
The factory is near capacity through February Production for the X3xx (Full Merino Leather). Please refrain from ordering X3xx upholstery, we will not be able to produce your order. Alternatively choose LKxx (Extended Merino Leather) and CSAT (Cloth/Leather combination)

F83 (M4 Convertible)

The last day to add individual content is January 4th.
The factory is near capacity through February Production for the X3xx (Full Merino Leather). Please refrain from ordering X3xx upholstery, we will not be able to produce your order. Alternatively choose LKxx (Extended Merino Leather) and CSAT (Cloth/Leather combination)

F82 (M4 Coupe)

The last day to add individual content is January 4th.
Capacity through February Production for the X3xx (Full Merino Leather) is limited. Please reserve X3xx upholstery for customer sold orders. If the factory reaches capacity we will not be able to produce your order. Alternatively choose LKxx (Extended Merino Leather) and CSAT (Cloth/Leather combination

So does this mean if we don't place our factory orders before end of February, our best bet to find an M3/M4 is on the lot?

It is hard to believe that BMW would stop production of the M3/4 for four months. I am about to order an M4 and if I have trouble getting full leather then I am moving on to something else.

Has anyone been assigned a vehicle with a production week that falls into the claimed stop production time frame?

Ummmmmm after two years, I'm finally ordering an M4 this Saturday. If I can't get full leather I'm going to be incredibly disappointed

More info would be great. Was planning on ordering first of January for a early June ED. Looks like this might not be possible now

The 4 months production stop only seems to be for the m3.

I placed order for my gf's M4 convertible this September through Steve Thomas BMW.
They did not receive single allocation for convertible last few month.
I wonder if this is related.

I'm not sure any part of it is true.

Well this is interesting. Just got an allocation/production no. for an F80 with full leather this week. Estimated build date is week 3.

Is your source an internal document? From your info, it looks like you're a CA at Tulley.

4 month production break would mean you can't place an order for a build past/production stop in March 2017. The January deadline applies to Individual orders.

Source of this information? I literally just sold my car yesterday (F80) to get a late spring early summer ED order in.

I heard the same thing from our CA a few months back. It was re: F80 build. Stating MY2017 production is done March and MY2018 production starts July.

Um so how true is this?

I'm planning on ordering an F80 in March, would rather not have to wait until the summer. Seems a bit ridiculous.

The OP has access to Dealerspeed, from which this information was allegedly pulled.

If the OP isn't just pulling our legs, this is about as straight from the horse's mouth as you're going to get. (Sorry for the double idiom in a single sentence...ha)

So, unless I can happen to find a car on the lot that's exactly to my specifications, I'm stuck waiting until the summer then.

That sucks. I may have to try to just order one in January, that way when my lease ends, my new car should be showing up. In reading it, it looks like full leather interior is out of the question, but I'm willing to forego that if it means not waiting until the summer.

I wonder if this could be due to the long rumored paint booth upgrade at Regensburg if only the F80 M is impacted by the production stop.

M3 already has LCI so why would it take 4 months to re-do it?
