We've all been there... What are some of the 'smh' moments you've experienced in your M??

One that I remember... It was pretty early one morning and I always turn the car on (not the ignition), lower the driver window and let my exhausts open up (BMS module). I proceeded to turn on the car and I kid you not I tried to 'turn down' my cold-start exhaust noise with the volume control...

Many years ago while still a youngster in school, I made the lll-fated and very childish/stupid decision to drive my first M3 when I was completely hammered. I crashed the car into my neighbor's house. I shit you not. Aside from some modest property damage, a totaled M3 and some burns on my forehead from the airbag explosion, there was no damage that couldn't be repaired and no one was hurt. The best thing to come out of the situation was a massive wake-up call as I desperately needed to get a handle on my substance abuse and reckless behavior. Took me a few years to recover financially and replace the car, but in some ways I am thankful it happened before I reached a point of no return and inevitably hurt someone else or myself. I've become a much better person from this major life experience.

Sorry for insanely personal and kind of depressing story.

This one time, I drove my M3 in comfort mode. What was I thinking!!! Hahahaha. It made for a good laugh!

Now it's either Sport+ or take the wife's Prius.

Most of my "smh" moments all took place on my ED.

For instance:

Actually thinking I could get out of downtown Munich from the Welt at 5pm on a weekday in a reasonable amount of time (5 miles ended up taking me close to an hour).

Actually thinking I could easily navigate the underground parking garages at the Marienplatz (moments of stress I never want to repeat).

Oh and starting up the car, driving down Ziegelhauser Landstrasse in Heidelberg and thinking there was something wrong with my car, only to realize it was in Efficient throttle mode the whole time. I'm worriedly going off to my poor wife that something is definitely wrong until I eventually looked down and noticed that I wasn't in my M1 mode. Then a quick "Never mind" to my wife with her shaking her head.......

I feel for him on his story and am glad he has turned his life around, but I thought the same thing. Many years ago when I was still a youngster, BMWs had not even come to the US. I was a senior in college before the first 2002s were imported by Max Hoffman in 1968.

I think recently while driving to supremepower, I was trying to by pass slow drivers. I only realized I was driving 120 or so MPH after starting to slow down.

I literally scared myself.

Oh here's my story. Two weeks after getting the car..

i'm leaving work late on a friday night, 10PM-ish. Driving through a decently busy downtown area, when i see an old guy in a buick trying to get out of a driveway-- i flash my beams and let him go. At this point there's a green light, and he is stopped, dead stopped. I honk, he doesnt move. So i loop around him (well i forgot the level of power this car has, and i chirped the tires, and made a loud exhaust note).

This caught the attention of the local police officer, who called in back up and called me a "road -raged driver" for doing [as he says] 80 MPH down a 25 MPH zone.

To my luck, someone had been struck and killed at that exact intersection 2 weeks prior. Fantastic luck for me.

It's all relative my friend. I bought it almost 8 years ago and I'm now 27. That span represents almost a third of my life and nearly all of my adult life.

It has!

When we reached the rental office, I had a wtf moment of my life.

"I see this reservation was made from the states. Do you have a Finnish license?"

"yes, I do."

"do you still remember how to drive a manual"

"yes, why"

"oh it is our policy to ask Americans this. When we used not to ask, they went nuts when they reached the car and couldn't start them up"

"I'm Finnish, and the hubby doesn't drive"

"okay good. Then I can rent you a manual"

Not joking man, I had to justify wanting a manual just for having been in the states.

I will be forever known as the only person who has fought to get a skoda Yeti diesel. Btw: It on average takes double the fuel my M4 did. A steady 19 liters on a hundred km.

Hey my bitching rental is probably faster in my hands than half of the F8xs made in the hands of the polishers.

No making fun of my White Tiger! (yes. I named him.)

They did the same to me in Cabo a few weeks back. I rented a Volkwagen Gol... no, not a golf, a GOL.

No power windows, no anti lock brakes (ask me how i know), and no airbags. But it had 3 pedals! Perfect opportunity to teach my gf how to drive a real car.

(lets not talk about the fact that my M3 is a DCT)

I tried doing that with my father's Prius.

And doing 80 in the same car on the freeway is literally dangerous. The car is sooo not ment to go 80. Prius has the aerodynamics of a fucking bus.
