Got the car not too long ago. Went on a normal drive and the car went into 2nd no problem while still throttling to go faster and continuing to go into 3rd. Downshifted into 2nd as well no problem.
However, while in 2nd gear and I got off the throttle, it did not want to stay in 2nd and began to grind and the car said "N" on the dashboard when this happened. The gear shifter did fiddle too. On the other hand, If I continued to throttle throughout gear right after I engaged it, it would work until I ran out of gear or until I was going too fast; the problem only happens when Im in gear and off of the throttle. I let a couple other people drive it to see if I was doing something wrong but still happened.

I only have the new vehicle warranty still active on the car. Could a previous driver error cause this or could this be a flaw?

Any help would be appreciated.
Take it in ASAP. 2nd gear kept having pop-outs and grinding. This happened to me when I bought my first M4 - was used and had around 16k miles. The previous driver likely didn't have a clue what he/she was doing! BMW Weatherford replaced with a brand new transmission

Did your car have the new vehicle limited warranty or any other type of warranty (BMW Ultimate Care)?

It was the original 48 month warranty
