Excellent time. Just shy of BMWs claim which Sport Auto also stood behind. Another day, another driver can perhaps get it to 7:50 flat.

A stock car running close to the GTS is impressive IMO.

A stock car running 13 seconds faster than the previous generation car is also impressive.

Clearly BMW did something right here.

I'd like to agree here. I can't wait to see what happens in a couple years if they make a special edition (NOT ZCP) version of the F8x

Just for comparison sake, in SportAuto's group test of the higher end sports cars around H-heim:

Corvette Z51: 1:11.5
991 Carerra S: 1:11.8
XKR-S: 1:14.2

Still I think it is an outstanding time they put down there.

Yes, the long straight on the Nürburgring means the M4 reaches speeds above 250km/h. So a limited M4 won't be as fast as a unlimited one

hm, PSS should endure high loads much better than PS2 because of stiffer sidewall, PS2 are more comfortable though

There have been quite a few deniers here thinking it was going to in the mid-to-high 50s so a time of 52 should quiet them.
HAHAHA, the "denier's" being proved wrong with a margin of a few seconds over 8 minutes.....yeh for sure that will shut them up

Well hey, can't please everyone. It's closer to the 15 sec BMW was claiming than the so called experts in this board who felt that was impossible and it was likely going to be half that.

Having tracked both... the PSS are WAY, WAY better IMO. YMMV and driving style may also play into this.

That has no impact on the capability of the car... it just allows the car to reach higher top speeds on the long straight. If the car was artificially speed limited on one of the very few tracks in the world where it is even possible to get close to 280km/hr it would inappropriately skew the results. They didn't add power or change suspension or tires... they just removed a BMW imposed limiter to allow the car to reach speeds that aren't possible on most any other track.

A few seconds improvement is significant. The discussion he refers to was over just those few seconds, in fact. People insisted it will do mid or high 7:5x, but not low 7:5x.

Also, speed de-limited worth 1-2 secs on that straight.

Do forget that the earth is spinning at a slightly different rate now than it was when the E9X ran the course.

That's another 1-2 sec.
