Coding after GearShift Change

We know BMW requires coding after changing simple things such as an airbag or battery.

Was looking and to my surprise, it appears that coding is required after replacing the GearShift.

Anyone know what the following actually does and where the changes are made?

Thanks

What you show from newtis is an extract from the BMW diagnostic tool ISTA. That document is a generic one stating the pre-conditions for programming. Get yourself ISTA, once you are connected to your car, you can explore the ABL (procedures) to do various things to the car and search if there is an ABL for gear shifter replacement.
