Bimmertech MMI Back Up Camera Review

Been with my MMI kit for exactly a month. Works like a charm. Definitely worth it for the price!

For 2016 and up models MMI is the only kit compatible unless you have PDC which you can choose between MMI or OEM.

Off-topic a bit but will the MY18 M3/M4 come with a back-up camera standard? I know starting May 2018 all cars will be required to have one, so I guess that means by law they wouldn't necessarily have to have it. But paying an extra 4 grand just to get a reverse camera is insane.

I assume the MMI version will display in color?

I got an email from Bimmertech stating they were getting new cameras and that the new ones would be up to 15% more expensive than the current ones...

They are offering a 5% discount on the current one to clear them out. Not a good discount if you ask me. But has anyone got any more info on this?

Camera hasn't changed. The 5 % discount is offered to anyone that fill out the survey, doesn't have anything to do with price increase which is now $699 and includes dynamic parking lines where as before the lines were optional.

I just installed the MMI on 2015 F80 w/o PDC. Install took a bit for me but well worth it. All plug and play. The only hiccup I had was when I shut my trunk while my battery was disconnected, lesson learned. Camera resolution is awesome btw. Highly recommended.

Im thinking about buying a used oem complete kit off eBay and Alex@Alpine said he would add the coding at no charge if I bought a tune from him.

Vendor replaced my bad MMI unit and it's been running good for 18 months. Front and back cameras.
