Over the Air map updates has stopped pushing

Passport BMW did it for me after they could not figure out how to get the OTA to start working. BMW of Rockville (where I purchased the car) also said they would throw the new maps on.

That being said, my system just downloaded the Maryland 2017-2 updates a couple of days ago after almost a year of nothing. Not sure if the issues on the server side may have been fixed?

Since I use WAZE for most of my navigating, I am not too worried about having the newest maps on the car. Just hate to not get something we "paid" for.

It's good to hear your OTA finally kicked in, hope I'm in line for an OTA too, if not I'll head over to Rockville. I'm running on 2016-3 same region as yours.

I took my car to BMW of Sterling and they said I have the latest update with 2016-4. I'm pretty sure they're BSing me, but has anyone gotten OTA updates past 2016-4? I just got an email from a BMW map provider that 2018-1 is out.

Hard to say if they're BSing you, they my not have the latest update, 2017-2 has been out for some time.

About a month ago I went in to see about getting 2017-2, my SA told me not to get it because 2018 would be coming out soon, which according to you it has. Hopefully I get an OTA update.

2017-2 is the latest OTA update that downloaded to me. this only happened a few weeks ago. Pretty sure 2017-3 should be out shortly though...

I talked to the service manager at the dealer and he agreed to program my car to the latest integration level and give me 2018-1.

I wonder if your dealer is confusing NBT EVO NA maps with NA Premium or some other variant

I just downloaded NBT EVO 2017-4 on Monday. I believe it's the latest.

Just picked up my 18 M3 and the Nav version is 2017-1, should I bring it back to dealer and have them do the upgrade?

When talking map updates I think we need to specify what exactly are the parameters of your car and the work being done. I think we have a lot of confusion not just in this thread but in general within this Navigation forum when it comes to map set, region etc.

Can you please pre-face your post with the following if relevant. Here is an example... This will ensure we are all on the same page and comparing apples to apples.

Map set: NBT EVO
Region: NA
Base Map: 2017-2
Regional/OTA Map: 2017-2

I definitely would go back....Maybe they can do that during the break-in service. I would think they should at least deliver the car with the most current maps.

There are many variants: Route / NBT-EVO / Next / Premium / Motion / Move...

1. 2018-1 ROUTE Navigation Map Update (ROUTE)

Supported by all BMW's equipped with ROUTE navigation systems.


2. 2017-4 EVO Navigation Map Update (NBT-EVO)

Supported by all BMW's equipped with ID4, ID5, and ID6 EVO navigation systems from model years 2016-2018.


3. 2018-1 BMW Navigation Map Update (NEXT / PREMIUM)

Supported by all BMW's equipped with NEXT or Premium navigation systems from model year 2009 - 2016.


All of the above updates are the most current and cover all of North America including Canada, Mexico, and Puerto Rico.

I have updated the vehicle to the latest I-level available and have updated the maps to the 2017-2 which is the newest available for the HUH-2 EVO head unit. At some point next month there will be another update for the complete vehicle which includes a fix for a known issue with over the air map updates. In the meantime, I had the engineers remote into the car to modify the head unit so that I could manually update your maps.

That's hilarious, just goes to show that the dealer is clueless about how this works and what's compatible with your car. First they lie and say you will get 2018.1. That map set is not even compatible with your car.

The software update includes the map update. They don't have to do any fancy remote in to make it work. Pure fluff and BS on the dealers part.

Awesome, thanks for the intel. Think I'll wait it out until the OTA issue is resolved, I'm running 2016-3 evo.
