That guy quoted my reply to your original post that Dinan is not a piggy. That's how this thread got dug back up.

Now that's all clear, let's move on. I assume you didn't buy the Dinan in the end, or do you feel that it's ok now to put a piggy on a $70k car?
.
I'm enjoying my piggyback Dinan tune, which I suspect makes me ludicrous given my initial comment. I even went so far as to write up a review (shameless plug).

Six Months and Going Strong

I've had my Dinan Stage 2 install/w Air Box for ver six months and have been very pleased with it. I participated in the advanced m course so have a good comparison as to my car versus several stock vehicles (M3/M4) that I drove on the track flat out. There is no doubt that my vehicle pulls much harder in the 3000-5000 rpm range.

With that said, I have not had a single problem or concern associated with the install.

I know it isn't popular to praise Dinan and people will immediately replying with JB4 numbers; however, for seasoned citizens that just want a little more punch, Dinan does the job and retains the dual backed warrantee.

You can't beat the Dinan warranty.

Agreed!

There are options on the market for everyone that take into consideration cost, hp/tq, reliability, peace of mind etc. No one loses here as long as you are happy with your choice.

I like my Dinan S2, peace of mind and the fact that I can take my car to my dealer and not have to worry about uninstalling parts or worrying about what they might find when the look at my car's DME.

Happy Ending. On 16 Oct 15, the Fairfax Service Center in Fairfax, VA installed the Dinan S2 tuner on my F82. When I received the car from Fairfax, I noticed the increase in performance at 3+K as reported by several folks in the forum. Here is the twist: when I recently installed and ran the DINANTRONICS Dashboard for iOS on my iPhone, I noticed the menu only showed an option to bypass or change to Stage 1; this made me a bit suspicious that I actually had an S1 tuner. When I contacted Dinan [Nathan Fette and Dan McNiff], they asked me to register the product on decus.dinancars.com/decusinfo.php and then confirmed that I was correct, my S2 was actually an S1 with a preloaded software capability installed! Fairfax Service Center was just as surprised as I was and quickly corrected the tuner to an S2. Next steps are CAI and exhaust - just wanted to pass this information along to new or prospective S2 consumers - (1) Register your product and (2) Check your tuner via the iOS or the Android app to ensure you got what you paid for.

Did you notice any change once you got the Stage 2 over the Stage 1?

Overall, its hard to distinguish any significant difference between Stage 2 over the Stage 1. I believe there was some very slight improvement, but believe a different exhaust set up would help enhance the performance of the Stage 2.

In my opinion there is a noticeable difference from stage 1 - stage 2
Thru all the RPM ranges you can notice the improvement.
Also, it is very minimal cost for the upgrade. I would jump straight to stage 2

I have been running Dinan Stage 2 + CAI + HE and have been very happy with the results, 450whp/513wtq. I have a non-ZCP M3.
