Multiple owners have tracked their manual 2017 Z06's with no over heating problems. GM added an aux radiator, changed intercooler bricks, raised S/C plenum, and added a scoop to power steering rack. The autos still have heat issues however as they cannot fit the aux radiator on those cars.

The ZR1 will solve those problems for both transmissions with its front bumper setup.

While I am waiting for my 2018 BMW M4 Convertible ZCP, I sometimes have buyer's remorse thinking I could get so much more power, more exhaust note, a better V8 engine than the M4s with this slightly cheaper car......... sigh...

Thanks in part to TheElementalCashew, I picked one of these up.

As expected, the interior isn't as nice as the M3, but it is way better than the last gen. and looks/feels better in the flesh than pictures indicate.

The windows also don't rattle inside the door when you shut them anymore, so initial quality appears to be much better than the gen 5.

The main drawback for me is the lack of adjustable lumbar support, although the seats are comfortable otherwise. I just need to do some more adjusting and adapt I think.

Rear seating isn't the best, but my SO and her teenage boy rode back there comfortably. Beats the 'vette.

Visibility isn't great, but I was used to it in about an hour. Blind spot monitoring and a backup camera are standard, which goes a long way to alleviate any shortcomings here.

Everything else is way beyond the M3, sadly. The car has way more standard tech. and comforts than the M3 did, and that's without spending nearly $1800 on the performance data recorder and navigation (which I did anyway). HUD? Standard. Android Auto/Apple Carplay? Standard. Heated seats/steering wheel? Standard. Ventilated seats? Standard.

The ride is significantly better, even on the standard 20 inch wheels vs. the 18s I had on the M3. The amazing thing is that it still manages to noticeably outhandle the M3. This chassis is truly a work of art.

Further proof of the merits of the chassis is the fact it handles the 200+ extra hp/torque with aplomb. Combined with the performance traction management and the eLSD, this gets the power to the ground in a way the M3 could not.

The other great thing is the noise. The V8 with the supercharger whine brings all kinds of aural pleasure. Combined with the aggressive looks, this gets way more attention than my M3 ever did. I'm not sure if that's a plus, as I like to be a bit more low key.

Take it from a German car snob, a sedan guy, and someone who really isn't a GM/American car fan at all . . . this is quite the car.

I just sold my f80 and ordered this ZL1 with the 1LE track package. Looks like I won't be disappointed. I've been driving German sedans since 2005 and grew up driving a 1970 camaro when I was a kid. So it's a bittersweet feeling

Let us know what you think. No question, this is quite the bargain. I couldn't even get it above $65K trying...and I love that the MT beat the auto in the Motor Trend video! Having driven BMW sedans since 1999, I'm just not there yet. I want some stealth, no or small/retractable spoilers, etc. Kudos to GM for sure.

Saw one of these at the Chevy dealer near my house today. It was black and look pretty damn good in that color. Interior was better than I thought it would be but I prefer the m3 interior a bit more. The visibility seem to be very bad on it compared to the m3, I'm sure I could get use to it. The car really does look a lot better in the flesh than in pictures, I liked it more than I thought I would, GM has stepped it up with this car!

Congrats! If you can live with the ride of the 1LE, I think you'll love it.

I'll be lucky to make it to the track once or twice a year, so I couldn't deal with the comparatively harsh ride the rest of the time.

Not sure how zl1 rides, but my gt350 rides smoother than m3 on the road. Mag ride shocks are wonderful things.

Remember the 1LE loses the mag shocks for valve spool ones

LOL. You're right though. Unfortunately, American car values drop to next to nothing after a few years. But you only live once, right?

I've seen these Camaro's when I'm out, and they look cool, sound great. But I don't think I could give up my M4 for one, even with the extra power and the tech-y interior of the Camaro. I love how super simple looking the M4 interior is. And I have the base, non-leather interior!

Camaro is still a boy racer car, where m4 you can show up to a sophisticated venue and not look like you took your younger brothers car

Ride and drive in m4 is still better, it's less exaggerated more composed for daily driving and way better behaved on the streets

I sat in a Camaro and the first thing I noticed was that outward visibility sucks. That was all it took to convince me that I didn't want one.

The ZL1 holds value pretty well actually. Even the last gens have only dropped about $5K to $7.5K a year. I wanted to get out of the M3 while the value was still high, as they'll probably drop quite a bit in the fall when they start coming off lease.

That's really the only thing the M3/M4 has on it. I can live with that.

Totally not the case. The new chassis and suspension is way beyond the current gen M3/M4. It rides and drives way better than my M3 with the M Adaptive Suspension. The M3 in comfort mode rides about like the Camaro in track suspension mode, and turn-in is way better in the Camaro in any mode.

ZL1 1LE will be a different story though as far as ride goes, as it's more track focused.

It's a bit jarring at first, but you really do get used to it quick. I got the sunroof to feel a bit less claustrophobic, which was really the worst part of the cabin without it.

I'm not much of an american muscle guy, but the '69 COPO Camaro was one of the classic muscle cars I liked a lot, more so than the Mustangs, although my dad was a Mustang driver. The ZL1 looks very promising, especially for the price.

They do. Residuals were 58% last month for 36/10 at a .0014 MF (3.36%)

The majority of dealers aren't budging much off MSRP though, so you're probably looking at ~$900/month.

No need to be facetious. I said what I didn't really care for a few posts back.

It's certainly not for everyone, but from a pure driving standpoint, it is quite the machine.

Well I am jumping ship to a ZL1 1LE after having 2 E92 M3's and a F82 M4 as my last cars. The 1LE will not be a daily driver for the most part but should a very quick trackcar for not a lot of money compared to what else is this quick. The car that I earned my 1st drivers licence on was my mom's 67 Camaro so I guess Camaro's have always been in my life including racing a few in Endurance races over the years.I am quite looking forward to getting a real serious track day car.
