6MT to DCT - Any regrets?

Sorry if I am late to the party and this has already been asked, but thinking of going from my e93 6mt to a f80 DCT.

For those that have made the move, any regrets? Or, are you all pretty much at peace with it?

No. I've been driving a manual transmission for over 50 years and have only owned one car (my first used car) with an automatic. I love the DCT in my M4 and wouldn't order an M3/M4 any other way. If I want to drive a stick, I can always drive my Z4 M Roadster.

Had a 15 m4 6mt previously, now a 17 m3 comp pack dct. This is my first automatic car and I love the DCT tranny very happy with my decision.

When I purchased my m4 last year I wouldn't even look at dct cars, but once I actually drove one my whole perspective changed. The performance advantage is well worth it alone, shifts are super quick, also impossible to money shift and have BMW blame a over rev on you and void your warranty.

no regrets. I bought it because I have a 7MT 991 that I don't like driving to work in traffic. I took both to the tail of the dragon this weekend, along with several other nice mountain roads and thoroughly enjoyed both cars.

No regrets here but then again I wanted the DCT. I had a 540 msport w/ manual and it was great but I wanted the DCT. I drove a Ferrari with "DCT" and it convinced me

The thing is, it isn't. The OP asked "For those that have made the move, any regrets?". He didn't ask for the opinion of the die-hard manual transmission enthusiasts.

So for anyone who has a manual transmission, move along, nothing to see here, this thread isn't for you...

After 40 years of driving manuals (last 12 being manual M3s), I had to let go when I bought the GTS. I have to admit I was apprehensive at first but flooring it at the light or on highway ramps without missing a bit has its rewards.
Right now working on the paddles just for fun, but I have not found any advantages to them. Shifting is crazy fast as is and the whole experience still extremely entertaining, especially on sport + everything (well, except for steering).
I can see myself practicing on the paddles for additional downshifting before a curve at the track... other than that, no regrets at all!

I have gone back and forth a few times - my first several cars were all MT, and I really enjoyed the experience. I had a 2010 135 on lease, which had the DCT - I didn't care for the DCT in that car, didn't think it was very well executed.

Went back to a MT with my 235, but then got PDK on my 981 and DCT on the F80 ZCP. For an every day driver, it is really hard to beat the "range" of the DCT (just like the overall range of driving characteristics of the M3 itself). You can make the experience fit whatever mood you're in, and match it to the type of road or traffic you're dealing with too. For a DD, I am definitely a convert and will stick with the PDK/DCT I think.

I might consider a MT for a "pure toy" car, just for thrashing. But that wouldn't be a slam dunk either...

This is the first DCT car that I have owned, all of my previous cars have been 6mt.

I can say that it has taken a while to get used to it. Don't get me wrong, it's amazing and shifts insanely fast when you want it to. I think that either way, they both have their pros and cons.

I never drove a 6mt F80 before I bought a DCT so I can't say for sure but I would image it's just as much if not more fun to drive. I opted for DCT since the car just seems faster without the manual trans.

I have a few other cars that I can drive to get my three pedal fix, but to answer the question... no, I don't regret getting the DCT.

The 6MT would be an awesome choice though.
