I think "vert people" see cars slightly different than the rest of us. I'm confident this car will be just as popular as it's predecessors. Actually a lot more popular since this engine should be much easier to enjoy for the kids of the rich and famous and trophy wifes who seem attracted to them. I'm not saying all vert owners belong in this group, far from it but there seem to be a larger percent than with the other models.

Agreed. The convertible looks great!

The way the roof/back window/trunk comes together looks WAY better on the vert, vs the coupe.

The roof line looks awkward to me... maybe it's just these pictures, but I'm not liking it.

Looks terrible with the Lid up. The 4er really needs that flowing roof to balance out the rest of the car. The 'vert looks really odd, and not in a good way... plus, there's all that extra weight.

E30, E36, E46 M3 'verts still the best looking.

I've never been a vert fan but fully agree. Rag tops looks so much better ( when new... ). The fold down steel units just seem to really do a lot of damage the to the lines of the car when up. I wonder what percentage of vert buyers actually care enough of the steel roof's benefits vs it's aesthetic negatives and weight penalty?

Rear fender looks hideous. Similar to G37, no agressive line on the fender. It looks bubbly and round. Ughh. The rest looks amazing.

Of course it does. All of the aggressive stuff in the front is hidden (side vents, bumper, hood). All you see from the front are smooth lines.

As a previous E93 owner, I think this version looks better. The roof shape looks more like a standard 'vert soft top on this body, whereas on the E93 it somehow looked awkward, hard to describe.

I agree with others that the roof and body look disproportionate from certain angles.
It seems the roof is same size of e93 and the rear body grew out of control.

When I compare the e93 top to this one, the dimensions appear to be identical.
I wonder if they aren't, simply, using the old e93 tops and sticking them on the new body. With some sort of adapting interface. It makes money saving sense.
Given the wider body of this newer car over the e93, that would explain why the top looks a bit smaller than it should be and why it doesn't appear to blend comfortably with the lower portion of the car.

I've got a 2011 e93 which is my first convertible - I can't even tell you why I got a 'vert as I'd never had one before and this one I special ordered ED never having driven a BMW before, much less an M3. All I can say is that coming from an S4 I decided to get one ... even thought at the time I lived in MN! Clearly it was a moment of crazy in my life.

That said, now - given I can afford one - i will never go back. The truth is I don't go to the track ... I always planned too but I just haven't yet and with the vert, it's awesome every day.

It's to the point that I don't understand why anyone who lives is a decent climate *wouldn't* buy a 'vert daily driver:

There's some truth to that, but as far as I can tell, the car is getting a lot of praise from non-convertible owners and drivers as well. Remember, there is a contingent of folks who are not keen on the flowing fastback look of the F32/F82.

I guess that puts us owners in good company. . You'd be surprised though, kids love a V8 exhaust note too. And the ones that are ambivalent to that probably won't give a second thought to what's under the hood of the new car either.

Probably geographically dependent. The E93s M3s I have seen have all been driven by males. I do see a number of women in E93 328s though.

Looks off somehow. Maybe it's the roof. I dunno.

I will catch slack for this and people will likely say they don't see it at all.... On the pics with the front drivers side angle of the M4, it reminds me of a Peugeot 308 convertible when viewing the Peugeot from the side!

I dont understand some of you. The vert top up looks like it doesn't belong. The character of the CFRP top and rear end looks so much better on the F82. Now top down, I like the way it looks, but that driver would have frozen his ass off in those snow pics!!

Awkward looking...

I dunno why but I have to keep staring at this new design trying to convince myself that it looks nice. Shouldn't be this hard... at least it will be fast.
