Door not unlocking properly
After lurking here for over a year, I'm now the proud owner of a 2015 YMB F80. While I've had several MINIs and an ActiveE, this is my first M car. For some reason it didn't come with an owner's manual, but I've got one on the way.
Meanwhile, I seem to be having an issue with the door locks when I'm parked and trying to get out of the car. I'll hit the Start button twice, so engine is off and so is the radio, etc. Double-pull on the door handle should unlock and open the door, right? I can watch the lock button on the top of the door go up as I pull the door handle, but it retracts as I release the door handle. It will do this over and over for as long as I'm content to play with it. To actually get the door to open, I have to hit the lock button in the center of the dash to unlock the doors, and then the door will open. What am I doing wrong? A quick search here didn't lead me to an answer . . . suggestions, please? Thanks! |

I have that on occasion, my front driver door lock is stuck, or slow to unlock, this is a common issue as my brother in law's m4 has the same issue. Next chance u get, go to your car and press central lock and unlock, do you notice your door node thingy taking longer than the others? Take it to the dealer. I forgot what they did for him, replaced fuse or something...

Following up: As suggested, I took the car to my dealer. It seems that they have a special diagnosis test procedure that they perform on the door lock system. They ended up replacing the lock mechanisms on both front doors. The driver's door was jamming, and the passenger door was slow. Both covered under warranty.
