Did your dealer charge for locking wheel bolts?

I was looking at some showroom cars yesterday and noticed that all the display vehicles had locking bolts as a $350 add on to the MSRP. This seems like a utter cash grab since they should be coming standard and are only a $50 part anyway. Did you have to pay for your locking bolts?

Tried to on my F80. After she came back from my Euro Delivery, I politely pointed out the car doesn’t have them on ...

I was refunded my $79.95 plus tax that they billed me.

But $350?!?!?

It's usually $350 for wheel locks and floor mats. I suspect that was added on.

The velour foor mats are listed as standard equipment by BMW Canada. Maybe they are throwing in winter floor mats for that price.

Anyhow, these are just dealer money grabs. One can either negotiate to have them taken off or get them for free.

Never on all three BMWs I bought from same dealer, the security bolts were provided free of charge.

Dealers never cease to amaze me. This lock thing is just one of the extras the dealers here want you to pay for. In addition to their admin fee there is security etching and a trickle charger. Jeez thats $1350 extra. I guess there are plenty of people who pay for that.

Yeah those are the ones I had in mind. They're the rubber ones sold by BMW.

Either way OP, you can definitely opt out of them; that's is exactly what I did.

They tried to for me. I refused them. Ended up getting them for free anyways on delivery.

I have a set of wheel lock I removed from my car. I don't like them since I had bad experience with them. Never paid extra for bolts. 350$ is way too much!

Same. Do not let yourself get ripped off by the dealer.
