Dealer says it’s an exec demo, but is it?
Hey guys, so my good friend is interested in a 2016 YMB M3 at a local dealership. Very low miles for the year, 5k. Salesman said the car was an "executive demo" and was driven by execs only, CarFax confirms it's a manufacturer vehicle, 1 owner lease.
Has DCT, NON-Competition, FULL leather, every single option pretty much, 666m wheels upgrade, power sunshades, ect. Now I was under the impression that M performance school cars had only CCB and Competition packages, other than that they are pretty stripper cars inside like cloth seats ect. Has anyone here who attended M performance school ever had a loaded non-competition pack F80/82? Or were they all strippers with cloth? Trying to figure out if the salesman was BSing or not. Thanks! I have attended M Track days, and all M3/4 were fully loaded with comp. and full leather, some cars even had M steering wheels and bunch of carbon crap like spoilers, mirror caps etc ..

The only weird thing is that it is really old - normally those exec cars are about a year old max (unless things have changed). Then again, sounds like he didn't drive it much.
What you could do is ask the dealer to run the VIN for you and show you the maint.... Or PM me the vin

M-Track Days and M-Performance Center cars are different.
M-Track Days is an event that tours around the country from one M-Performance Center to the next. They bring with them their line up of cars and support teams to maintain the cars. All M3/M4s are comp pack. M-Performance Center does the M-Schools and other various events. Their cars stay at the location; they do not tour the country. Currently, all their M3/M4s are comp pack as well. However, this doesn't mean that they only used ZCP cars. After all, they've been running the M-Performance Center even before the ZCP was available. So it is possible that this car was used and abused at the M-Performance Center. |

They are usually pretty shady about performance center cars - they claim it's a demo/executive car. There is a thread somewhere here how to verify that - place of first registration, packages and so on... |

There can be both, non ZCP and ZCP at the M-track. I attended the Thermal, Ca in OCt 2017. Most of the M3/4 were non and maybe around 3 were ZCP with extended leather. I would stare away from any demo or executive cars. You already at the range of buying a new one.

Exec cars can be an amazing deal. They used to lease out really good too - but I think BMW took that away.

Agree with above. Directly ask and expect honesty. Then it comes down to price and how long you want to keep the car. If it is a fantastic deal and you plan on a 3 year ownership, it probably doesn't matter. If you plan to keep it long term, I would have a much different opinion.

And the problem with the car would be what???? How hard could you drive a car in 5000 miles? Ten 500 mile races? C'mon Son!!!! You could tell if you know what you are looking at. If the price is right get it. People lease cars and mod the hell out of them, then remove the mods and take them back, the car is offered for sale and nobody knows anything. You take a chance with any car new or used, just a new car you can take back and complain a little more but you pay a higher price for that option. You can always find something else if it craps out.

These are BMW execs driving a car provided by their employer. I would be surprised if a person with one of these cars (a BMW exec) would trash it - as they would not be getting a car from BMW again.
