All I can say is, "Test Mule".

Tri-Turbo does sound interesting though.

Are you guys excited by the technology or the looks? Because envisioning that car with normal paint, not sure it's something to write home to mother about. When the E46 and E90's debuted, I did think the shapes were something to write home to mother about.

Folks, this is just an early prototype. These aren't the production mirrors. You can expect sportier mirrors for the next gen M3 compared to the regular F30/F32.

Nobody seems to have much of an issue with the F10 M5 mirrors.

So the glory of the next M3 Coupe does neither shine on the 4er Coupe because it isn't an M4 nor does it shine on the 3 series sedan because it isn't a sedan???

You realize that the E30 M3 had an inline 4, and both the E36 and E46 M3's had inline sixes right?

No 4 Series!!

I really hope that BMW can keep the 3er Coupe. I mean, 3 Series is BMW's icon. When people think about BMW, they think about 3 Series/M3. I just don't want to see the 4 Series. That is just... not right. I hope Scott is wrong this time... really... BMW shouldn't focus that much on the name. Well, yes I do, and that is because... IT IS 3 SERIES! Please BMW I know you guys want to create a naming system that people can understand easily. You can have 2 for 1's Coupe, 6 for 5's coupe, but please make an exception for the 3er.

There's no hood bulge like on the E9X. I'm going to miss that. The hood bulge really made the M3 stand out over the normal 3 series.

just sayin ... it seems pretty likely but ___________?

Hard to please the masses. One hand you have all the people complaining about the intro of FI in the M3. On the other, you have people complaining about the next M3 going back to the straight 6 instead of sticking to the V8. (Wasn't the E30/E46 being touted as arguably the best M3?)

So what's the point of a triturbo? Do they come on in succession to limit lag or for something else?

Some members post quite high mpg IMO, but I do think a 20-21mpg is quite attainable from a steady 70-80 mph with some bursts to redline included.

Please people! There is no such thing as an "electric" turbocharger. Turbochargers by definition are driven by a turbine which in most applications is powered by exhaust gases. So as has been noted already the engine will have 2 turbochargers and an electric supercharger. Technically a turbocharger is a type of supercharger so to say it is triple supercharged is accurate. A tri-turbo? No way.

You can really get 18-20 hp flogging a 400+hp twin turbo I-6 around a track or on a spirited drive? I find that hard to believe.

The point I am trying to raise is that fuel efficiency should not be much of a concern in a high performance vehicle. It's like buying a Gallardo and then complaining about the ride height in the winter; it's defeating the purpose.

The Motorsports division was supposed to represent BMW motorsports brought to the street. When we get carried away by luxury and fuel efficiency, we begin to forget what these cars are all about.

That being said, I'm going to keep quiet until the first reviews of this tri-turbo engine. I hope it lives up to expectations.

+1. I can average 20-22 mpg on long highway cruises following the flow of traffic. Sometimes even higher. Having a 7th gear probably helps with that.
