Hi guys. Recently changed to Michelin pilot sport 4S tyres on my M3. The left rear tyre has a slow leak after about 400km.

The tyre was checked by the place that fitted it to the wheel.

The wheel is intact with no obvious cracking and the tyre has no obvious puncture.

The tyre guy stated that "the leak was between the tyre and rim seal due to scraped paint". He applied sealant - reapplied the tyre and no bubbling could be seen.

Can an expert advise if this is possible and whether this course of action is reasonable?

That sounds suspicious. I'd check the valve stem.

We use bead sealer a lot at our shop and that I one way to ensure no leaking. I personally would’ve sanded down the area with a wire brush to ensure a smooth surface for the tire bead to sit on.
