I have Nationwide and it's $1 more expensive every 6 months from a M235i to the M3.

These rates are useless without some basic and consistent data. Otherwise you're comparing apples to oranges.

I'm getting a significantly lower quote from Geico than Progressive, Liberty, etc. What's the catch? Anyone with Geico experience please chime in: good, bad, indifferent.

Was w/ AAA for 10 yrs ish... switched over to Geico to save extra $$ ... since my premium jumped for a claim on bent wheels from frwy, got into accident few months later while someone running a red light (not my fault) gieco is the worst ins ever... I switched back to AAA ..yea I paid a lil more, not worth the headache and the run arounds I got..

Some say Geico is really cheap when you need to make a claim and low ball body shop estimates. But I had a claim in my old car and always go to this high end body shop. They argued with Geico and said they can’t fix it properly using Geico’s estimate. Geico ended up raising their estimate to within a few dollars of what the body shop wanted. You just need to find a good body shop that is willing to go to the mat for you with Geico.

I was quoted $200 less for an M4 than an M3, ironically the M4 had a higher MSRP of about $78xx whereas the M3 was $72xx both cars had drivers assistance, and the M4 had ZCP. I don't know why, but M4s are cheaper to insure for some reason... at least for me.

I would think because M3 has a much longer history therefore insurance companies can see what the typical accident rate for an M3 would be. Wait a few more years, I'm sure the difference will become negligible.

In Vancouver, Canada.

Age: 20 (19 when insured my E90 M3)
Discount: 15%(When I first insured my car, now I’m at 20% for the next time.)
Insurer: ICBC
Deductible: $300
Forgot what options I have
Insurance Cost: $5.5KCAD/Year (Paying more next year since insurance rates went up 6.4% making my new 5% discount useless.)
Clean Record.

I had Geico for like 15 years. M3 finally made me make the move to Progressive, it was like half the cost for the same level of coverage.

I saw on another car forum the reason why the M3 costs more to insure than the M4 is due to data from the IIHS where the M3 has a higher claim severity and overall loss than the M4. The IIHS highest overall losses are:

1-3 are Bentley
4 BMW i8
5 Maserati
6 BMW M6
7 Audi RS7
8 BMW M3
9 BMW M4
10 Maserati
