These cars are not similar at all. The driving characteristics of a front engine rear drive and a rear engine rear drive are totally different. It all depends on what you prefer.. Regular 911s don't do it for me, I can't hoon them around like I can with M cars. Also, M cars are boxy which gives them practicality while 911s are sports cars. I like cars I can slide about on a racetrack then take the family out in which is why I got the M.

I would want a 991.2 GT3 to have next to mine though, but I would always keep an M car in the garage.

Luckily in the USA, the used p-car market and new m-car market are such that there IS an overlap between Porsche and M3

$100k can get you a new/ridiculously optioned M3, a GT4, a used 991.1 GTS, etc

so it is a relevant discussion here, and makes for entertaining threads like this

I am really interested how the new Competition line will look. The M 2 competition is pretty impressive

Then I made the right choice!! Because not a douche and like value!

Thanks!

Let me break it down using more lay man terminology.

Porsche 911 = Gap

Mmmmmkay?

Really? What's J Crew then? Bugatti Veyron?

The thing about Porsche is that it never really looks dated, because they all tend to look similar. For example, aside from the fanboys, how many people out there can tell the difference between a 997 and a 991?

The M's look a bit more dated each time a new gen comes along because the styling change tends to be more.

True. Plus ppl love 911s. I have a 997 GTS now and when I took it out last weekend I had someone honking at me to give me a thumbs up and another guy who was crossing the street in front of me giving me a thumbs up. They have no idea my car is cheaper than a lot of other cars out there on the street.

Interesting question OP, but for me a little pointless. In the picture below, that's my blue car in the foreground. Anybody who would say that they wouldn't rather have that black car in the background would need to have his head examined. Having said that, in my view the blue car provides a bigger bang for the buck then anything I can think of, which is of course why I own it.

Are those 763 wheels? Did you powder coat them? They look more silver than the orbit grey color, hence my question.

Thanks.

Thanks, didn't know they were available stock in that color. I'm thinking about swapping the ZCP ones in my (soon to be picked up) SMB M3. Don't think the CS orbit grey complement the car well, too dark for me. Silver would be just right.

Sorry, my comment was unclear: those wheels came from the factory black, they were powder coated to that color.

The only Porsche I would get would be a 911+. And yes, a M4 would seem like a downgrade from a 911. But they aren't even close in price. I wouldn't consider any other Porsche, so anything less than a 911 wouldn't be a downgrade moving to a M4. At the end of the day, I'm happy with my M4 and what it offers for the price.
