OP, I posted the same response to your post on Rennlist as well if you're considering a 997TT...

The only good reason to go with the TT Tip is if you're looking to go big power for straight line runs since the Tip I believe is rated to withstand more power than the PDK. Otherwise, look to the 997.2TT PDK since the .2 has a much, much better stock suspension and there are no concerns of having to address some of the known coolant or oil leak precautionary measures. Also, the 997.2 has the same general interior/infotainment design as the 991.1 (which are both outdated anyway but still a lot better than the 997.1). But I think many who say the 997 looks dated inside often mean the 997.1 but overlook the updates to the .2.

While mine is very fast, the porsche just GOES where you point it. Its not a slide sideway, or burn out type of car at all. I have WAY more fun in my M3. The Porsche is great for my weekend fun or dinner dates with the wife.

My porsche replaced my M4. My F80 M3 somewhat replaced my Porsche as my DD and I couldnt be happier.

But my Porsche is still my favorite overall. Just not for my daily.
Interesting. Can you expand regarding porsche not being practical to DD? Are we talking about storage/passanger space, road noise, ground clearance, etc?

Sounds like you're saying that CS2 is so good and efficient that it almost lacks drama / entertainment factor in day to day driving situations?

You nailed it. Sans road noise. Mine has sport exhaust and I love it!

You'd pick the infotainment of the 7.2 vs. the Mezger in the 7.1 ? What are you talking about "coolant leak precautionary measures" (does that mean pinning the coolant lines)?

That's not an "issue" that's just the fact of owning a mezger engine car, and only really comes up if you are tracking the car

I said nothing of the sort, was comparing pdk to Tip where in his Rennlist thread, he had asked about Tip. And yes, coolant lines, a well known issue. I personally would want this done if I owned one, especially as these cars get older along with the glue or whatever they used to connect the coolant hoses.
In any case, the 9A1 has proven to be stout in hindsight so the whole Mezger vs. 9A1 debate is overblown and both are great in my view if you come across a good example that suits your wishes. But if one wanted an auto, I think the .2 pdk is the much better choice.

My comment about the infotainment was also more in response to the Rennlist post where someone suggested jumping straight to a 991.1 TT for the tech updates but the infotainment in the 991.1 vs 997.2 TT is nearly the same. I've owed both and found no appreciable difference in that regard.

Thanks for explaining Rambler.

100% agreed on avoiding tiptronic

It does seem like 9a1 is solid. I haven't come across and big power builds but that is not OPs objective anyway

I agree with this. The M4 makes a great daily driver. I do not drive my 911s daily, and I do appreciate the cars more so when I do get into them on those occasions.

The 911 is well capable of being a DD. Spacious cabin, great MPG, ample trunk space. Was ‘15 GTS. Now ‘18 GTS.
