I do love my current E82 1M, its aggressive stance, it`s nimbleness, it`s agility, the very compact dimensions of this car, for now IMHO it is the best bimmer driving around.
So replacement is not an easy task at all, I consider following options in random order; 1 F82 M4 (but I do have some doubts over it`s size and weight) 2 Upcoming M2 3 Porsche cayman S (rumours do speak over a possible GT(S) or R version) Could be I`ll keep the 1M and buy a 2nd car, too early to tell at this moment though. 1. 2014 F80 M3 2. 2014 F10 M5 If the M3's styling and reviews re handling/engine response are positive I'm going to go ahead and order one. I had an E60 M5 which I loved dearly but I really prefer the size/weight of the M3, plus the fact it is a much more extensively modified vehicle which M take the most pride in. That said, if the M3 disappoints (which I highly doubt) or discounts are poor (less than 4%), then I'll grab a loaded M5 with 10% off MSRP (though that'll mean "bye bye" to my track forays). I'm lucky enough to have an SUV, but if you were using just one car I can see the appeal of getting one as they are so damn versatile and the trails in CA are a blast. Two-seaters, owned a 996 back in the day and it was a great DD and tremendous fun.... but the lack of trunk and friend space drove me crazy. If you can cope with that, P make a great car. I just happen to prefer the bulldog styling and feel of M cars so that's where my money's going. |

That would be ideal. I think Audi kind of dropped the ball with the engine in the current RS5, at least here in the US. We want some torque over here. Same engine as the B8 RS4 and R8 but upgraded a bit. But it's the same 4.2 so people perceive the engine as being long in the tooth.

Quite a crowded field by the time the M3/M4/M4GC will come to market:
Most Direct Competitors C63 RS5 '15 Mustang GT350 C7 Corvette Camaro ZL1/Z28 CTS-V / ATS-V 911 Cayman/Boxster Others Jag F-Type CLA AMG Audi RS3 (if we get it) BMW M2 Alfa 4C (stretching a bit but I'm an Alfisti so...) Used alternatives in roughly the same price bracket 997 GT3 997 Turbo '13 F10 M5 GT-R C6 Z06/ZR1 Panamera GTS Maser Gran Turismo Aston Vantage ... long list here What else am I missing?

2015 is one of the biggest years for new cars that I've seen. So much spanking new selections to choose from. We are simply spoiled with choices compared to prior decades. Brand new Mustang, M4, Z/28, Vettes etc.
I'm a bit of a Mopar fan too and they have unfortunately and seriously dropped the ball not having a brand new 'Cuda available in 2015. In turn they'll have a slightly redone Challenger SRT8 (new dash, tech and bumper caps) with a 6.2 supercharged V8 reportedly to put out GT500 comparable numbers. Still a really big girl though.Wish they would have come out with something like these:

Nice enough if it wasn't for the steering. The same issue plagued the 640 GC btw. Pretty numb, poor on-center feel and an awful artificially heavy feel in Sport and Sport+. Porsche somehow gets this right, their steering is lighter than an E9X for sure but they don't loose the feel and the on-center feel is great, both our Cayenne and the Pannies I've driven has this accurate stable feel while still being light. I'm a bit of a dinosaur when it comes to steering I prefer no power steering if the car is light enough and I prefer the heavy but natural feel in an E9X over the lighter newer steering but Porsche manages to make the light steering feel smooth and modern without loosing the on-center relaxing feel and stability and keep a linear feel when turning. BMW just don't get this right on the F-series wether it's EPS or HPS equipped cars, they are numb and vary boost with a nervous on-center that requires constant micro-adjustments.

An eventual roadster/spyder version of the Alfa Romeo 4C, hopefully with a more powerful engine (a GTA version maybe) and few differences from actual design (for a starter, better headlights would be good).
For now, that is the only highly probable new/future car that can take me away from the 1M. I bet the M3 sedan will be a great do-it-all car though, and would make sense if priced correctly as well as a possible M2 Gran Coupe. M4 doesn't do it for me the way that it stands.

ATS-V .. The non-V version already has been recognized as having the best chassis, only to be let down by the powertrain. GM should rain on BMW's parade by showing off the ATS-V at the Detroit show. I'd prefer they use the new LT1 V8, but most likely it'll be the new TT 3.6.
The redesigned Mustang is also on the radar. Rumor has it that the 2015 Mustang GT will have 450 hp out the gate... |

It will either be M3, RS4 (if it comes here) or new CTS-V for me next year. So it's down to three...
I originally thought the RS4 was too small, but after reviewing interior stats of the new S4, it seems I was mistaken.

M3 and S4 are very close in size, no? I would, however, tend to rule out the S4 on other grounds - namely that it is not in the same performance class as the other two.

Something rwd, NA, MT = next Z06 might be very interesting as Porsche has canned the manual for the GT3.

F-type only comes in an automatic!! I test drove the supercharged V8, fantastic sound and feel, but the transmission is a big fail IMO!!!

And RS4 is big bucks. Alfa 4C intrigues me, but not for a daily driver. Never going back to American again (since my '69 Camaro), though the new Stingray can't be beat for price/performance.

Really thinking I need 4 doors since I have kids...so I'm torn between F80 M3, 550i M-sport, and S6 (80K budget). Would love a M5, but don't want to think about dropping 100K on my daily driver.
Then I get budget conscious at times and want to consider a 335i or S4 and keep it under 60K. |

I will buy the RS4 or M3. I´m worried about the lack of torque in the RS4, do you think it will feel "slow" compared to the new M3? RS4 is more practical and maybe (just maybe...) it has a little bit better quality regarding the interior. M3 on the other hand will be faster and I guess, more communicative Price will probably be the same for both....

Rumors are that the new A5 Body style will arrive in 2016 so new RS5 probably not before 2017
