Time to get back to work and get this baby ready for the cage shop.
First, take off the under door panel liner and clean any residue from the sticky weatherstrip adhesive

Remove the Sunroof cassette (which has aluminum frame now :-) ) and the door frame weatherstrips (surprisingly heavy)
Remove the doors off the car, use 12V to the motor wires to move the window to a position where you can remove those gear shaped headed bolts that hold the window glass to the window motor tracks/cables and pull the glass out. There are 4 of those in the picture, but there are only 2 per side. We use a flat punch and a hammer on the teeth of that thing to rotate it to get them started. Once started, there is like a torx T20 in the center of the bolt part. Next, remove the harness and motor track/cable assembly Have the front and rear glass removed (I suggest a mobile windshield installer so you can try not to break either one and re-use them) and here you go. From the track on Sunday to Wed. night with no glass and no doors

What's your plans for the cage? What size tubing for that weight car? Going up to the strut towers? Tig or mig? Still a lot of work it seems to get ready for W2W...

So from the doors, we had a bunch of stuff to cart off to BimmerMerchant.com (I have no place for this stuff): door frame seals, window glass, window motors and door harnesses
So we start getting the wiring out of the way for the cage builder. While we're at, we'd see if we can drive Craig crazy removing the entertainment harness But Craig was able to remove it while cutting only a few ground wires on the driver's side. Those few wires to the right are from the Left Rear of the car for things like rear window heater, etc. Gotta get the dash out This isn't even all of the electronics we've pulled from the car

The largest tire that hey have listed on their site is 265/35/18, which is pretty undersized for our cars. Might you be testing a larger size for Achilles? It would be nice to have an NT01 competitor, but they would need 275 and 305 versions, that seem to be far larger than they currently produce.

http://www.achillesradial.com/tire/competition/29/GS328 But note that this is a racing slick tire. They have the 123S that the drift team uses that comes in a 275 and 285. http://www.achillesradial.com/tire/competition/30/123S

More prepping for the cage and then paint shop. Removing the rear side windows. For SoCal/OC, we use Hanson's Auto Glass
I think we're about ready - harnesses pulled up and down the center of the car (getting harnesses away from the 6 chassis attachment points of the cage). Also have them wrapped and taped up for the grinding/sanding dust. Also have the door frames all taped up for roll tubes being taken in and out of the car for fitting.

I've used over 2 rolls of 2" wide blue painters tape so far. I'll be posting a little less over the next few weeks while it's at the cage shop (I'll take pics and catch up later). I'll still try to answer people's questions in a timely manner and use some more on track pics to fill the void.
