Playing a little devil's advocate here, but I think this is true.

The person in the Merc/BMW will be a lot less likely to act a fool when pulled over - they have a lot more to lose theoretically than the 25 y.o. in the RSX. At the same time, a $100 ticket for a person in an expensive car is not so bad, but it could be make or break for the person in a cheaper car.

Also, they've survived long enough to move up to a Merc/BMW, so hopefully they are not speeding as much as the 25 y.o. or at least are choosing safer scenarios to speed in.

Although I hate left lane campers, The statement that the left lane is smoother is true. Especially on 2 lane(each way) interstates. The right lane gets beat up by truck/bus/ heavy vehicle traffic. The left lane of often in better physical condition than the right. Driving cross country often helped me to notice this.
Especially on roads that require chains in the winter!

Do cops have a thing against being loud or something? I love revving the motor unnecessarily and driving loudly, flaps splayed fully open.

Anyway, in my experience, some cops are super nice people, some aren’t. This also applies to doctors, teachers, mechanics, humans, dogs, bears, children etc. I must say however, that the proportion of nice/happy general surgeons feels reduced compared to other medical specialties. Still lots of nice surgeons out there though.

5/95 ratio is BS. I've dealt with a couple fair traffic officers but the majority have just been bullies with a badge. You must kiss their a$$ otherwise you get screwed. It's all about collecting funds for the city and upholding their tough boy ego.
Did they teach you to spell ass with dollar signs in medical school?

Out here on the west coast, most people just ignore the sign, "Slower traffic keep right".
Hah out here on the east coast nobody moves to the right either. Part of the problem is that since the posted speed limits are lower than the "acceptable" speed limits its difficult for HWP to pull someone over for doing 60 in a 55 in the left lane. . . Everyone else is doing 65-70, but technically that's illegal too.

The bigger problem is that people are selfish assholes and don't know how to drive though

It's not that the M3 looks "too quick". That's just absurd. And it's not the car, it's the driver.

Only time I was ever pulled over in my adult years was when I was going (allegedly ) 80ish in a 65 and I didn't realize CHP was tailing me. Easy ticket for them, could have been easily avoided by me. Lights come on, pulls me over, asks how fast I was going...I asked how fast he had me at and he said 85. I said no way, I wasn't going over 75. So he wrote me a ticket for 75. I get the sense with most cops that there's a level of "as long as you're not a dick to me, I won't be a dick to you". You're both just adults that want to get on with your day.

The irony of an M4 owner telling another M4; 'don't drive fast and you won't get a ticket' with a strait face, genuinely confuses me.. Why did buy an M car then? The purtttty colors ? You could of saved like $50,000 by just getting a Toyota Corolla S instead to cruise the boulevard.

And yes, any M cars with their noticeable exhaust and awesome stance does attract attention; that's the point! Unfortunately, a cop's job is to be alert and if it's between you and a stock Honda Accord, guess who the cop will single out?

People act like cops are these holier than thou, superior robots that is above being subjective; they are not! Don't believe me, ask any black driver, they'll confirm it.

Cops are humans, doing a very human job, just like a mailman, garbage man, porn star, ect. They think and react just like any of us would, except they get a paycheck and a carry permit, for their services.

Holy fuck you are a clown. Also - since we're generalizing people's professions - most doctors take the holier than thou elitist prick generalization to the next level. I work in finance/IB - feel free to generalize.

I bought this car at 26, so you would think given that I'm immature and driving a fancy pants car (modded top to bottom) that I'd get all kinds of attention from the police... right? Wrong. I've gotten one ticket in two years of ownership and I fully deserved it. Don't drive like a clown.

Full disclosure: Most of my family are cops.

If I'm reading this correctly. Everyone on this forum is either a cop or a Dr. You're all wrong, its the DCT thats causing the terrible driving. Go back and learn to drive a manual and you wont get pulled over, its science. /s =)

Maybe not in your area, but they sure are important state/municipality revenue generators in mine, with set budgets and quotas

1. You were driving like an idiot
2. 911 looks fast, not your 3 series as that's how 99% of the public refers to it.
