Cool Cleaning Akrapovic Ti Exhaust tips

I tried to do a search and seems I can really only find a post by alekshop posted a long time ago on m3post where he used never dull.

Im looking for what others who have the exhaust have used to clean up the carbon build up. what is your process? I want to get mine dialed back in, they are getting pretty dirty.

any feedback is much appreciated.

UPDATE: took a hell of a lot of elbow grease but the tips look BRAND NEW and the Never Dull worked like a charm. IT really cleaned off all the build up. I forgotten how good the tips look when they are brought back to silver finish. Highly recommend it

yes I have tried WD-40 didn't seem to do much but based off akra site this seems to be what they recommend. Maybe I need to give that another go and put a little more effort into the process

I'd go for the Never Dull or some other wadding compound and probably wipe it down with WD 40 afterwards.

The WD 40 is for removing any residue left so it won't make the titanium change colors with heat afaik.

Do you have a Akra exhaust and have used this process?

I don't own one personally but have used this method on the Akra systems I have worked with.

From what I understand other metal polishes change the finish. Effort required here, of course, also depends on how dirty they are. Think you'll be happy with the results.

Use the wadding compound (elbow grease for days), wipe with microfiber, then wipe down with WD40 just to be safe.

I've heard of others using steel wool but can't speak for it myself. Hard for me to "test" new ideas on others' rather expensive exhaust setups
good luck

no pics, (I know, I know) I just washed my car and started going in on the tips didn't even think to take pics TBH. It took a long time, maybe 1hr of none stop scrubbing with never dull then wiping with micro fiber towel over and over. Prob could have done a little more but my fingers and arms feel like they are going to fall off so its good for now

You must've had a lot built up haha. It took me maybe 5 minutes total for all the tips but I do it every 1-2k miles.

yea its been a LONG time. Maybe 1.5 years TBH but then again I really don't drive that much. Going to start staying on top of it though from now on. Maybe do it once every other month should be good. I went to grocery store a few moments ago and could really see the shine coming off the tips it was a nice little touch

How has the finish help up after the NEVER-DULL application? I'm also wondering if there is any way to use a dremel to do the hard work.

I tell you what my arms and fingers were torched after going through that process. I spent hour and half doing all 4 tips. It did work very well but you have to stay on top of it. it reverted back to stained very quickly. I need to do it again but just not motivated. Def agree if you can take a mechanical approach it would be so much easier
